Hello everyone, I’d like some help with dialing in my ironing a bit better. I checked various topics and tried various settings I found around but I’m still not quite there yet and I’m getting a little frustrated… I need some help with my homework.
I’m aware the best way to figure it out would be to pint a bunch of test parts but my problems seem to really flare on the larger pieces which take really long (and waste more material).
I’m printing some 250x200x10 flat boards and would like the surface as smooth as possible.
- Printer is a P1S, with PolyTerra PLA White, flow dynamics and rate done.
- Ironing at 65mm/s x 22% x 0.15mm generally produces a nice finish, but I end up with a lot of waves and/or a rectilinear pattern showing up (even when I use aligned rectilinear…?).
- Ironing at 130mm/s x 26% x 0.15mm does not produce waves or show a pattern, but the finish is super rough, like wood. It’s almost worse than non-ironed to be honest.
- With both settings, I get “lines” across the board that line up with elements that have a different z height.
Here is an imgur dump, with settings superimposed.
Someone mentioned in another thread that waves can be due to warping off, but the boards are absolutely glued to the plate when done.
Could anyone just point me in the right direction? Or give me some variations to my settings / infill, so I can print a bunch of 50x50x10mm squares as tests?
Thank you in advance
