Inspection/replacement schedules based on hours of printing would be more useful here. Something like “after ■■hours of printing” for regular and abrasive filaments.
@SupportAssistant Appreciate the reference illustrations, but can you add photos when you can? I think that would be useful for new customers.
Don’t hold your breath waiting. So far, I can’t find an ideal humidity to hit for my spools.

Something Bamboo Labs needs to do it to stop charging $6.99 for shipping. $2.99 for some tubing, and $7 for shipping??? I’m not buying lunch for the shipping department.

Anyway, I ordered extra PTFE tube when I bought my printer + AMS last year. Still haven’t needed to replace anything after about 1100 hours of printing. But very little of it with abrasive filaments – mostly PETG and some PLA.
You might be surprised how I shop to avoid venders who exhibit blanket shipping charges. Usually I will check eBay and find the vendors who ship for free.
Once I find what I’m after I will copy and paste to eBay. Because I was staying loyal to BL for my filament I would do big enough orders to get my free shipping. And they’d drop ship from here around the Los Angeles area often. But some of my multi-colored filaments have come from odd places.
I track my shipments like a hound dog. I have a second AMS 2 Pro enroute via FedEx and it left Tennessee two days ago, after being shipped from Huntsville, Alabama. Since FedEx hasn’t updated for a couple of days now, they probably wrecked a truck, or damaged my shipment bad enough they are scrambling to replace the squashed box.
Naw, I’m no stranger to shipping and receiving for myself. I ordered a part from Idaho from a vender I’d done business with before. Some dunce in their local post office sent my package to Saugus, Maine; instead of Saugus, California. I called them and asked why my part was going East. They hoped I didn’t blame them for the screw up. They contacted their local PO and it turned out amazing. Did you know when the Post Office has a major brain fart they will overnight the item to where it was supposed to go in the first place? Yeah, me neither.
When I order came off their truck in Maine it got here overnight.
Anyway, I shop for shipping on an item as hard as I shop for the item. And I rarely ever pay shipping. It’s not that I’m a cheap A__ tightwad. It’s that if a vendor wants my business they’ll earn it or I’ll go elsewhere.

Oh, and I discovered other brands of filament here where I can go buy it locally. I just ran off one spool of PLA, and I’m working on the second as I type. Their store brand. works great so far. Two spools for the price of one, and no shipping. These two were a test. They carry BL, but their store brand is half the price. No shipping added on either.
No shipping, but, taxes. I seldom have on order less than the $89 that BBL requires. If I do, I throw a set of cutters or extra PTFE on the order until it reaches the minimum free shipping.
USPS bottom rate, business account, is basically $7 once you include the box and packing mats. [$6 hard cost] I know these guys run a warehouse, economy of scale, but the costs are real and rising

Badly aligned cuts create a lip on the inside of the pneumatic fitting, and that lip can catch solid things like the slightly curved leading edge of your filament spaghetti traveling thru tubes.
I think the challenge with looking at it based on hours of printing, or even weeks/months of printing (as they currently suggest) is that it’s all dependent upon the meters of filament being pushed through each of the four PTFE tubes. The other challenge is that worn tubes can lead to other printing errors that wouldn’t immediately be recognized as a worn tube as the culprit. Like feed errors, extrusion errors, etc. Personally, I purchase long lengths of PTFE tube off Amazon, and cut to length to suit my own needs. Whenever I have a problem with filament feeding off a particular spool location on the AMS, one of my first tests is to swap out the PTFE tube with a new one. If it makes no difference, I just revert to the prior tube and keep the new piece for future use when needed.
Often I throw a few spools of tube in an order, and they show up separately from the main order. I’ve shipped plenty of things and for them to send that separate even if it’s over the threshold for free, it’s a loss. You cannot ship the package they send via USPS for less than they charge for the tubing.
You can do all the shopping around you want, but trust me, you’re paying that shipping even if it doesn’t show up as a line item. Nobody is selling things for a loss.
The way I look at it is that I make $120/hour. If I have to spend more than 30 seconds trying to find a cheaper rate, it’s already cost me more money. My time is money. If it’s a game, a hobby, a challenge, or necessity for you that’s fine, but $6.99 is pretty much the norm. The envelope cost a buck. Shipping costs a couple bucks. They have to pay somebody to process it at $15/hr. That’s 4min/$1. With insurance, workman’s comp, yadda, yadda, yadda….. $6.99 doesn’t seem like a profit center to me.
My PTFE tubing did not last long; it only did 5000 hours on my H2D lol.
No, 5000 hours is quite good on my H2D; they did well.
Now I always a lot of metres of tubing spare. I evan got some of the crealty star tubing aswell from Temu. They say it is less friction I dont know if it is true or not.
