Dirty X1C Lead Screws

Looking for advice on dirty lead screws on the X1C. I printed a great cleaning tool that uses pieces of cot up sponge soaked in alcohol (I use 99%), and it does a beautiful job. However when I put new grease on and run the bed up and down a few times, the lead screws get minty again presumably due to the old grease still on the part of the bed that the lead screws go through. The screws look squeaky clean until after I use the tool I printed (uses the up and down motion of the bed to help get into the threads), but after applying new grease they go back to almost as bad as before.

So my questions are…is there a good way to clean out the areas where the bed contacts the lead screws? Or does it even matter if they don’t look squeaky clean (provided they’re properly greased) and I should stop being obsessive compulsive about shiny lead screws?

Yes
I don’t want to know how often you change your vehicle oil.

Do the cleaning with a piece of cloth first and then with a foam-q-tip and use your hands. Most of this tools can also destroy your printer if you just clamp them there. If the q-tip is clean then just distribute a bit of grease and let the print bed go up and down. I do this all 500h print time. Carbon rods just with alkohol, metall rods just with cloth (then grease) and no alkohol.
