Disable Auto-Sleeping Display

Is there anyway to permanently disable auto-sleep on the x1-carbon?

I can only see options to adjust the timing from 2 through to 15 mins. It’s quite irritating having to open up my enclosure to tap the screen and wake it up so I can see how long a print has left.

I don’t always have my phone to hand so using the app isn’t the answer. Seems a bit pointless having a high resolution display if it’s never turned on.

I doubt there is an option as it would drastically shorten the life of the screen. Sounds like you have an enclosed printer inside of an enclosure? Perhaps print a stylus on a little levered arm that can be activated from outside your enclosure?

To further expand on this idea, if you wire a button in parallel with the seldom used “Power button” on the top of the X1C you can remotely trigger the display on and off from outside your enclosure. It would actually make this button useful.

This is where you would make the connection (or you could use the test points / splice into the harness)

You’re a genius - great idea.

I’ll look into this, there might be something I can do with a PIR to keep everything enclosed.

Adding a PIR is also a really good idea. I’m not sure how the printer deals with the button being pressed for a long period of time. You may need an intermediate micro controller to pulse the button when the PIR is triggered and ensure that the pulses are correctly spaced enough to not turn off the display while it is on.
