Discard Or Keep Changes (Transfer/Discard/Save) - Explination?

Hi everyone, I just need help understanding what this means when a setting is changed in the slicer. I am trying to edit the Bambu PLA Basic filament cost and when I do this a window pops up. I want to overwrite the filament cost which says 24.99/kg (I assume dollars?) but for me this filament is 31.50eur/kg. I don’t want to mess up any settings. I would think I’d want to hit Save but Transfer is highlighted and when I hit save it wants me to make a copy of the preset and changing the system profile isn’t allowed so I can’t save it with the same name. I just want to change the cost of the filament I choose to edit.

Also, it says the Bambu Support W for PLA is 69.98/kg but on their website it’s 81.90eur/kg.

So, what does Transfer mean and is there no way to Save this without making a new preset?

Hit “Save” and give the new Filament Preset its own name. Now when you use that filament in the future, select that preset and the changes you made will be assigned to it.

“Transfer” is if you want to save the filament presets to another filament selection.

“69.98” was probably the price the last time the firmware was updated.

Thanks, that makes sense. The transfer thing was confusing to me.

I start with running filament calibration using “Generic PLA”, and when I have adjusted everything for Brand A PLA I save that as “Brand A PLA”.

Then I create settings for my filaments with the cost appended. For example I might get a master spool of brand A for$15. I name it “Brand A PLA 15”. Maybe the normal cost for the same brand with a spool is 20. I name that one “Brand A PLA 20”. Both of these are just “Brand A PLA” with the cost changed and the name changed.

Thanks Julie, that makes a lot of sense. Start with a good control and tweak from there and save out a preset.
