If I want to periodically use the AMS, but some other times just use the single spool holder at the back, should I remove the 4 pin Bambu Bus Cable on the rear right of the printer? And of course the PTFE tube from the AMS.
I removed the 4 pin bus cable, and the printer no longer detected the AMS, which seems to achieve my goal. Printer prints fine in this configuration. Having done this, it makes me wonder why this AMS connector release tool exists, and seems so popular: Printables
It seems to me that I don’t have to disconnect that 6 pin cable (which has the release tab on the inside edge of the cable when plugged in), which is what this release tool is suppose to help with, but you just unplug the 4 pin connector which has an easily accessible release latch!
You can just click out the AMS enable button in the slicer when starting the print and keep the AMS attached. Look also for Y-splitter in printables to join both ams and external ptfe-feeder. Makes life easier. The connectro was used before You were able to do it i the slicer
I mounted as close as possible to the coupler and shortened the tube from the buffer so it angles down and doesn’t protrude past the side of the printer. About 18" of tube in the other port plugs into a dryer box sitting next to the printer.
Thanks for the tip about doing it in slicer! I did see the checkbox before, but didn’t know what would happen if I unchecked it. Yes I’ve printed a Y splitter now. No more disconnecting things, phew!
What I miss is that if you deselect the ASM in the Bambu Studio to print with a single spool.
The possibility to discharge the single filament is missing, because in the display the button for unloading is only visible when the ASM is disconnected.
That would be if it would be changed in one of the next updates

Ich habe die Sache so gelöst klappt sehr gut.
Was mir fehlt ist das wenn man das ASM im Bambu Studio abwählt um mit einer Einzel Spule zu drucken.
Die Möglichkeit Fehlt das Einzel Filament zu entladen, weil im Display der Knopf fürs entladen nur sichtbar ist wenn das ASM getrennt ist.
Das wäre schon wen bei einem der nächsten Updates das geändert werden würde
