I think it would be nice to have a second discussion about the opportunities the new “virtual currency” of boost points “could” have. I guess they’re here to stay, and despite all the balancing questions that need to be solved in the upcoming weeks and months there are also some opportunities of having that virtual currency.
Maybe we can just collect some ideas:
a logical step could be that designers could also require a boost to unlock a complex print. I doubt that many do more complex / long prints a week than they would get in boosts now, so the models would stay free for them, but it could be an incentive to really use the boosts for complex models and not just share / swap them with friends.
sometimes designers react so nice to requests or do custom versions that it could be nice to be able to also turn reward points back into boost points, so we can give designers more than one boost for their effort / support. I guess this would also require a better account verification first so bots can’t spread their points to easily, but in the long run this could be a nice option to have.
I personally chatted with this user and offered guidance plus listened to his feedback to better my model. This is a great example of the use of boost. But I don’t think they’ll be much more reason behind it across the board… majority of boosts will be thrown out there. . I have quite a bit of them to hand out as well
You received 2 tickets you can give away, with a value of 1.85$. But you only get them once. Buying a printer for 1500$, you get those points one time only. Not for yourself but to spend.
In perspective, to redeem a voucher out of gifted boosts, you would need 48 boosts. We will see how long an average designer will need to get this much, if everybody only gets at max 1 per week to spend.
