there should certainly be an “AI slop” bucket of models.. sure.. but here is something to consider.. are you telling me you want to have models like this (Life Size AVP- 6ft tall Printable Predator Model! - Free 3D Print Model - MakerWorld & Life Size Xenomorph Alien Model - 5ft Tall! - Free 3D Print Model - MakerWorld) placed into the same bucket as something like this : Ares greek mythology - Free 3D Print Model - MakerWorld) ?
those are probably the same exact type of people that still frown upon CNC machines instead of hand tool building…
new technology will always come along, and there will always be people that look down on it and refuse to use it… that’s on them. I’m not one of those people. Im sorry.. but I am a person who CAN model… however… I have very limited free time outside of work and adulting so what sense does it make to model a base detail from scratch that will take me 2-3 days, instead of using an AI platform to get me the same reference base file within seconds to start working with.
Actually, now that crops all over the world are seeing significant decreases in yield and quality from global warming, your internal combustion engine analogy is going to be useless soon because it will become depressingly true. Cursing AI is like cursing the internal combustion engine. You just don’t appreciate the irony yet but you will.
But painting disliking AI as 'fear" is total bull excrement and you’re using it to derail the debate.
We can dislike AI and how it is poisoning this place without fearing it.
We could just as easily say you must fear the backlash against AI as people discover huge increases in their electric bills, discover jet engines roaring just down the road as they spin generators to feed data centers, discover how their temperatures have suddenly risen 10-15 degrees from the waste heat of a data center, watch their property and home values plummet, etc.
Not fear, dude.
