Dislike todays changes to adding/removing from Collections

It appears that changes were made today (25th Nov) regarding how to add or remove models from collections.

Previously, when you clicked the button to add a model to a collection, a list of your collections would appear with the default one selected. This made it easy to add the model to an additional or different collection.

Now, it just adds it to your default collection and you have to quickly (within 3 seconds) click a little “change” link to bring up the list.

It is now more difficult to move a model between collections. Previously, you could simply click the “Collect” button and select the desired collections. Now, clicking the button removes the model from all collections (without telling you what they were), requiring you to click the “Collect” button again to add it to a new collection. However, if you do this from a collection list, the model disappears instantly, leaving you no opportunity to assign it to a new collection:

If a model was added to multiple collections, and you wish to add it to another one, you no longer can.

I extensively use Collections to plan my upcoming prints. I have “Print Sometime,” “Print Next,” “Print Today,” and “Printed” Collections. I frequently move models between these Collections as priorities change or after printing a model, and these recent changes make this extremely tedious.

Please consider reverting these changes, or adding an explicit option to “Edit Collections”.

The change to managing collections is very bad. I used to be able to click on “collect” and change which collection a model is in. I put models in more than one collection. Now, my only choice is to remove from all collections.

I DO NOT LIKE THIS CHANGE AT ALL.

Bambu Handy still works the way it did. I really do not want to have to use my small cell phone to manage collections.

There is no way to see what collections I have placed a model in. I will sometimes put one model in many collections. Now, when I click, the only option is to remove from all.

I agree with this assessment. The change to collections is terrible. Please rollback.

Just wanted to share a workaround I found for the collection auto-save issue.

On the browser, you can hit the “Change” button on the popup, but it disappears fast. However, if you go into your Collections settings and uncheck/disable the default status on your default collection folder, it fixes the behavior. It will go back to asking you which collection you want to add to every time.

This morning I can no longer add a model to a collection of my choice. Clicking on the ‘collect’ button on a model adds it to the default collection. There seems no way to move it to another or change it, only delete it by clicking the button again.

So that was a temporary fix. It started creating a new “Default Collection”. Now I have two. Definitely broke.

What’s with the changes to how to collection files today? When you collect something you can no longer choose which collection you want to add it to, it automatically goes to the default collection, and if you miss the little popup winder to change it at the time, you actually have to un-collect the item and then collect it again, playing a mini game to hit the change button before it disappears.

The whole reason I never use the app or mobile to browse makerworld was because of all the time / taps wasted having to uncheck the default auto-collection and then select the correct one, then submit the change - the desktop website interface actually made the process streamlined, so much so that it was enough to justify me going downstairs to the computer to do so…

Now they’re both equally irritating, to the point I just don’t actually want to use makerworld at all

(though I still will, due to their tight ecosystem integration with the printers - just less often, certainly!)

Yep, frustrating isn’t it.

Just adding myself to the list of folks who DO NOT like this new collections change!

Thank you all for the feedback. We’ve taken note of this issue — simplifying the favorites workflow has indeed made it less convenient for users who are used to managing their collections on the web. We’ll continue gathering your feedback and explore whether there’s a better solution.

I tried this but don’t see where it helped. When I click on the “collect” button it says “Remove from your collections? Removing it will also delete it from any collections you’ve added it to.”

I was hoping for a reply. I’ve given up on the collections. Plus, the download automatically chops off at 200 models.
So, not having collections means I can’t ever find a model I downloaded a few months ago.
Please consider putting the collection system back like it was or tell us how to add a model to one of our collections. Nothing works for me on my iPad or Windows computer.

There is a better solution: Revert to the prior functionality, which worked very well.

If you want to improve on that, then get rid of the requirement to click “Done” to save changes. That was the only confusion point – people would select a collection, see the check mark, and close the window without hitting “Done.”

I also suffer from the last changes. I hope it was not intentionally. Plus it is not possible to delete collections (especially these standard collections).
The old functionality worked fine.

I mean, just revert it. Or at least let us disable the default collection as default… and start asking where to save things again, if other people like it, they can just keep it enabled.

There’s no point to multiple collections if we need so many clicks to do such a basic thing.

Yep this is the worst update ever…

i contacted support about it if it was an error, and they said that it’s currently impossible to roll back or change.

makes managing collections a pain now.

this will hurt creators in the long run, when people stop making collections and just resort to downloading the files to keep them sorted.

To be honest, collections were one of the few things that worked great in my opinion. Why change it? :woman_shrugging:
Currently, when I click on my collections, it opens by default a list of all the models I have ever added to any collection (yes, all of them! I don’t know how many, it says: 999+), it’s becoming a terrible mess…

It lazy loads them but i think would be best to open this tab by default.

On others, one simple change would be add “Manage Collections” under collect on
