For that I buy 15$ aliexpress iron and it works great. It os not on battery but on cable

Yeah, my son’s school did that too. They ordered twenty Chinese soldering irons from AliExpress. They failed the first electrical safety test and had to be taken out of service. No strain relief and a risk of mains voltage on the metal part of the soldering iron. 300 € wasted.
I don’t have any bad experiences with that.
So you contracted an inspector to test your cheap soldering irons, and they received an approval sticker?
Seems we are over-thinking this.

If you need a soldering iron for heat set inserts then just buy the cheapest one you can find.

If you are soldering tiny SMD components or doing detailed solder work then get a Hakko solder station.

If you are just doing generic soldering with through-hole then get something decent (like a Weller). You don’t need to spend Hakko money on it.

no, I use it by myself and so far didn’t find any problem with safety
I’ve ordered it (paid with gift cards). It works well both as soldering iron and as a insert tool. I would definitely recommend it. I’ve purchased few other tips from fnirsi for few £ and it is my go to iron now.
It replaced atten ST80. Atten is better but this takes much less space.
Had to buy the adapter for the power supply as it did not come with the UK plug.
Must be certified/ safe if it sold in the EU through EU based companies.
I wish they were selling battery powered version in bambu store.
Hakko sells soldering irons with digital temperature control. They also sell one of the best side cutters on the market.
I have been using WEP soldering irons for several years without issue. They are designed and made in China.
which is the cordless hakko with digital temperture? it’s not on their website
For a few years I am using PINECIL (Pine smart soldering iron). I connect it to a powerbank when I need it to work “in the field”. Price is $25. Upgradeable firmware. Temperature display/control. I mostly use it for soldering (SMD/throughhole components) but it works fine with threaded inserts installation.
I agree with the suggestion to get the cheapest 60W iron you can find if you’re just setting inserts into your models.
If you are doing actual SMT rework and assembly, skip the Hakko, as you won’t see them on a pro bench. You want Metcal, JBC or Pace. Of course they’re all more expensive than the Hakko 888 that seems to be all over maker forums, but you get what you pay for.
This is one of those posts that the more I try to ignore it the more it pops up with updates. I’m probably going to order one now just because I was told not to… The reverse psychology is working.

Click the link and compare the two… First the bambulabs resell is obviously %50+ The price the fnirsi one is… and the one bambulabs is selling you have to plug into something… you can but the corder one on fnirsi for $65 cheaper then bambu… or buy a CORDLESS one of fnirsi for $45 of Fnirsi! it’s really crazy
