Do not buy the H2D in its current condition

After 150 hours of use my Bambu Lab H2D checked out. Thankfully my Microcenter warranty is only 2 days from being up. I had constant on scree erros, motor overloads, AMS issues, and a constant error in which filament would get stuck and melt in the printer head. It ruined a nozzle recently. All I can say is that for a $2400 this is not plug and play. If your looking to pull the trigger, wait. Maybe I just got a bad unit, I don’t know. But after 150 hours something went wrong. Ive tried everything so I am not looking for a fix, I am simply giving a warning. This machines firmware and hardware has not been polished yet. And yes I know some of you that have 100’s of hours of a good H2D printer but saying that does nothing to help. We have seen numerous issues with this printer upon launch. In its current state do not purchase this printer. That being said, it has the ability to change 3D printing but its just not there yet. Hold off, wait a few more months. I even saw some slight heatbed damage probably coming from the factory. If this product was $1000 cheaper I might not have been so quick to return. Before anybody asks its not user error. Sensors and AI dectection is bad at least for my unit. I just want to let you know to wait, I was excited to pull the trigger to but it put me in the boat I am now. As of now I am deciding if I should get a full refund or exchange it for another unit. If I exchange I will let you know how it goes.

Updates: Not sure why but this post was recently flagged, if you do not like what I have to say just do not read it!

I appreciate that you had problems, that sticks!

But you shouldn’t tell people not to buy it based off of your experience.

It might have just been one faulty machine. And it seems that Micro Center replaced it?

Well unfortunately as I stated its clearly not just a problem I have a experienced. Taking a quick glance at this form we can see I am not the only one. People from all over with H2D’s are having problems. I understand what you saying but I am not the only.

My H2D has worked wonders from good delivery. ( no dents, careful delivery, and the driver offered to help us bring it inside! ). Printing even better than my x1c with no errors

How long have you had it for? And have you experienced any errors or things that you had to fix?

For a couple days actually. But I’ve been printing it nonstop, lasering, haven’t tried cutting, but have tried drawing. It’s all been working fantastic!

No errors whatsoever! Everything was a piece of cake, the onky notifications I’ve gotten so far is that my door is open ( you know when I open it lol  )

I respectfully disagree. Nowadays anyone who buys a tech product within the first like 6 months… is an EXPEDITIONER from18th century :joy_cat:

Unfortunately statments like that are a cop out from the reality we face. We should not say things like this. More so these companys need better testing to ensure there product is near perfect upon release.

Yeah I agree with OP. If you’re not an active beta tester, don’t buy it at current stage, the risk is too high.

The term ‘early adopter’ doesn’t come from somewhere. Unfortunately, it is now standard practice for the product to mature at the customer’s home.

As someone interested in technology, I am often enough among the first buyers. But I deliberately refrained from doing so with the H2D, as the structure and technology are too complex for me. Apart from the fact that I’m happy with the X1C.

Of course there are also satisfied users. I hope so. But there are also people who are totally happy with their use case with a laptop from 2004  If you look at the messages here in the forum, the (non-sponsored) test reviews on YouTube … I’m actually quite happy not to have been one of the first this time.

Coupled with the current service in terms of performance and speed, it’s a real PITA for those affected.

Ive started having the extruder overloading error on my laser version. I can send identical models to both h2d’s and one always errors now. Changed hotend sides, changed nozzles, swapped nozzles from one printer to the other, swapped filament etc. Im probably dealing with the ■■■■ design of the extruder gear mounting. its weird to have a pressure fitted part in a machine that constantly heat cycles. Opened a ticket, so im sure ill have it solved by christmas.

I bought it in the first wave and just started having these errors this week. I print nonstop, so I assume more users that print less often will eventually end up with a loose gear also

I feel your pain, these werent cheap printers.

How many hours do you have now?

Ill check when I get home, but its alot

600 Hours now on my H2D not a single failure or error message except some z-banding quality issues that are 100% slicer/firmware related.

Also just because you see a lot of posts about problems in a forum that is exactly made for that does not mean that so many H2D owners have problems.
People dont usually make posts when everything just works.

But there are still lot of pressure points that bambu needs to address like shipping, quality controll or slicer profiles.

Of course, problems mainly arise in a forum. The fact that there are still so many posts with a ‘relatively’ small number of devices from the first batch is quite remarkable. From what I have heard so far, I would say that the device was simply released too early.

There was also a reason why I didn’t buy the X1C until August 24. It was anything but perfect at the beginning.

But what puts me off even more than the H2D is the service. And I was able to gain my own experience in this area.

The fact that people have to live with such generic bot responses for days and weeks on end after having just invested thousands of dollars in a product that doesn’t work properly is wild.

The obligatory “mine works just fine” response.

Yes, exact same problem I had. I am now thinking about maybe just getting the refund and waiting a few months for it to become a polished product. Exact same problem as you though on my right exturder. Filament would get caught and slip and melt inside of the head. Actually had the H2D ruin a nozzle in which I had to use a spare one.

Im just trying to balance out all the negative feedback on the forums with some positive. People come here with problems so its obvious that is mostly what you are going to read. Also this thread is NOT to deal with a problem but specifically telling people and I quote “do not buy the H2D”, so im giving it some balance. If the thread was about an actual problem, I would try to help.
