Do you really need a Micro SD Card?

I am wondering what the benefits are to purchasing a MICRO SD Card if I have a good Wi-Fi network?

Welcome to the forum.

There is no need for an SD card on the X1C if you use the cloud to send prints (from Studio or resend from Handy app) to the printer and you’re not interested in saving time lapses of prints.

Thank you! I didn’t think there was a need but wanted to make sure. Thank you very much!!

Does this also apply to the P1S?

No, the P and A series need an SD card to print.

The SD card enables the posibility to reuse previous prints (they are in cache in the SD), without any app or software, directly with the screen facilities. Very handy.
I use this feature a lot: Power on the printer, select the model, print.

Lexar or Sandisk is the same? or is a particular brand better?

Something with “High Endurance” or Industrial cards are recommended.

I took this one, is it okay?

I have to same card in one of my printers and it’s been working well.

Brands do matter with flash drives of any type. Bought a cheap SD card for my camera. Even though it was rated for high speeds, it couldn’t keep up when doing 4K video.

Put a SanDisk in it with the same specs and had no issues.

Speed and data reliability are both affected by the brand. Ones I’ve used with no issues include
PNY
Sandisk
Lexar
Samsung

Out of those SanDisk and Samsung are the best.

The thumb drives that come with resin printers fail frequently, because they are about the cheapest the manufacturer can buy.

thank you so much for your reply and for your availability…

I don’t record time-lapses, but I do keep Auto-record Monitoring turned on, which actually records the entire print. It is very helpful to see exactly when/why my print turned to spaghetti, broke loose from the plate, the filament clogged or ran out, etc. Time-lapse often misses the exact point a failure begins. I don’t watch the videos often, but if I turn them off a print is sure to fail.

Great… great idea, I would never have thought of it
but do you have the X1C? because I have the P1s and from Bambustudio I see another command, and only one command…
Is it the one I activated right?

Yes, I do. This is the X1C portion of the forum, I presume the topic is about the necessity of a ÂľSD card in the X1C.

I’m not sure that continuous monitoring would be as effective with the low frame rate of a P1.

I apologize, I made a mistake…
I saw the discussion that talked about the MicroSD card and I was interested but I didn’t notice that it was in the section reserved for X1C users…
Anyway, thanks anyway for the advice.
