Yes, upside down is quite standard for resin figure legs, to eliminate support contact points. Another thing they will do is print a figure such that the head is angled back, to keep supports out of the face.
Please don’t remind me about hats. When I worked for a company making “knockoffs” (D&D has an Open Game License) of BattleWarMaceHammer and DragonDungeons, figures with hats and cloaks were the worst things to get our of an injection mould.
You’d make a frame with 8 idiots in chunky armour and 1 leader with a hat or cape, and that stupid vanity accessory would be like 3/4 of the engineering budget. Then people complain that you sell 10 dudes in a box for the same price as 1 hero, and accuse you of costing your figures based on in-game power level and not manufacturing cost.
