woops i guees their prmium models so he removed them for personal resons ? i guess idk ? meaby you can guide me here
meaby there 3d models and he or she reomved them for personal reasons i guess, so we dont support 2d models as hes not a supporter of 2d models but does some as well… im really confused now im i in a phase now or between 2 astrals ?
At this point, perhaps the Exclusive program should be apply-to-join, rather than join-then-be-judged? MW can take the time to review and award the extra points retrospectively from the application date.
It’s doing more harm than good to MW’s reputation among creators, even if the number of rejection cases may be small (only MW will know the rejection %).
That or variation of it was suggested multiple times and would IMHO be a far better way than high stakes calvinball…
Every single model on this website is sliced in a slice, which is 3D software. And everybody knows that the 2D they mean is not referring to inkjet printers.
But saying designing “2D” models are low effort by default is saying that 2D graphic design is low effort by default, it is not. Although 30min sounds like a breeze for me personally, since most of my models take days if not weeks to perfect. But even modelling medium or time doesn’t reflect quality.
That said, the exclusive model is an “extra”, everybody gets points regardless if they join or not. I have only one exclusive model and the rest I like to keep free but I still get a load of points for them and I still feel like the effort I put in is validated and rewarded by users and by MakerWorld.
But the exclusive program costs MakerWorld more, and they have to earn that back through filament sales. These 2D models just don’t use a lot of filament and are generally relatively easy to design and therefore possible to upload loads more. So I can understand why they exclude them, even if some of them are high effort.
You also pointed out “flat” kit cards which are imo a lot more 3D. So maybe MakerWorld could refine the wording to say something like 2D models with a 1D 3rd dimension? So everything kinda flat where all height difference is extruded in the same direction? But I think everybody knows that that it was they mean anyway.
Yes, the way they police is wayy too harsh. And the approval process would be a lot better if it was done prior to publishing or granted afterwards. Maybe even only after 100 downloads to relief the work load and grant it retroactively.
I also have a very high effort remix (polypanel Catan globe) which I can’t make exclusive because it’s a remix. That doesn’t mean that it is a garbage low effort model either right? It just means I can’t apply for the slight increase in points because it’s not within the boundaries MakerWorld set. And that’s okay because it’s their program and their rules. They just should be somewhat more clear, even though your design is clearly what they mean with 2D. Even if it’s a lovely model with a lot of effort put in it and designed in 3D software.
I’m not sure why, but I might get called a Hank right now, sorry in advance
The Exclusive Program should be about whether or not your model is:
A) Original - No remixes or stolen models are allowed
B) Exclusive - The STL files cannot be found elsewhere
C) Printable - The file can be consistently printed, either using mostly-default settings or a provided print profile.
And not
D) Following MakerWorld’s subjective “good quality” and “3d” guidelines.
This would alleviate so much drama for all of us.
Thank you yeah i think as well…
As I said earlier, I contacted them because of my own design takedown (2D Designs, but all were hand drawn original work), and got this reply:
Regarding the issue you mentioned, we recommend that you directly contact the official account staff for the most straightforward communication.
The bolt text is not a link. Does anyone understand what they want me to do? Is there an even “higher” way to contact them than writing a ticket? I’m really confused.
That is fascinating! Never heard of “official account staff” and I guess I would figure a support ticket would get you there, I don’t know another method.
I did write a support ticket, and was told to talk to “official account staff” instead. What am I supposed to do? Is your support not official?
i have no idea we never got any anwsers from them either way
Yeah, I also asked them what that means and got nothing back.
Great to see how @BambuLab decides to help some people, and ignores others. Also great how they allow some 2D Original Work, and ban others.
I can live with that, 2D was never a main part of my work, but it’s still a little unfair.
To be honest, all experience I had with support recently was really really bad (I had a missing item from an order for example). They respond after 2-3 days, just to ask for things you already said or provided.
when I read the guidelines that you provided … I dont know if it is me but I cannot find the section where it says 2d models are not allowed… It seams that you have this in the tutorial section but not in the actual Guidelines, or did i not see it ? thanks MakerWorld Exclusive Model Guideline | Bambu Lab Wiki

Details and Accuracy
Models should demonstrate a high level of detail and precision in design. AI generated content, Hueforges and 2D models will be removed from the program. Coasters, signs and keychains using existing logos or signs will be removed from the program.
- Structurally sophisticated models are more likely to become popular and receive increased exposure on MakerWorld.
- The original model designer must include a Print Profile that achieves optimal print quality. List recommended filaments, colors, and print settings.
- A clear and comprehensive Assembly Guide is suggested for all multi-part models.

where is the link for this ?
I went to the link you posted lol. But here is a direct link MakerWorld Exclusive Model Guideline | Bambu Lab Wiki.
thank you very much couldnt find it haha
The only reason one 2D model is seemingly allowed and another is removed from the program is that the one that was removed was reported. If you want equitable application of the rules, report those models for not meeting Makerworld Exclusive standards. There is a drop down option in the reporting form specifically for this purpose.
