Don't need for AMS?

I am planning to buy an Bambu H2D. If I only print with max 2 different filaments because it has two printheads, can I print without needing an AMS?

You can. It comes with one external spool holder but one of the internal models is one you can print as the second. There are also several models on MakerWorld that let you put two spools on the same mount.

In my humble opinion, if you’re on a budget, buy the H2S + AMS.
The AMS is very convenient (and in my opinion) more valuable than dual nozzle.
