Double screen with FW 01.04.00.00

Since loading FW 01.04.00.00 I am getting a double screen effect when loading and loading filament. Has anyone seen anything like this?

I’ve not had that particular … artifact… on screen… with 01.04 but I have had the “Not Extruded Yet, Retry”/“Filament Extruded, Continue” and I think it is “Filament Loaded, Continue” / “Load Filament” screen with a bit of a lag, and then it get replaced with this screen, and then it goes back to the last of the filament loading steps (when I’ve been using the external spool).

I am wondering if there is some way to reload the 01.04 FW just to see if was something that went off the rails during the first install.

That is the expected display.

You should be able to downgrade using Bambu Handy, and then upgrade again.

Ok. I see now. That very tiny picture in the upper right appears to be a shot of the print head. What got me worried is that screen loads very slowly in steps. Maybe an attempt at downgrading and then upgrading is in order. It reminds me of how slow some small devices will load massive pictures.

The screens don’t refresh quickly and the extra information added to this screen makes it appear in stages giving the false impression you experienced.

I know, because despite my knowledge of the screens and the Arduino processors they use to power the printers, I thought the same as you the first time I experienced it.

It will not speed up, it is the expected behaviour in visuals and speed.

Thanks Malc. Just for fun I downgraded and I will try to upgrade again later today. I was a little surprised by the slow loading as until this FW version the screen has been pretty responsive. I am running out of time this morning. No more fun. Off to work.

Yeah, the ESP32-S3 processor isn’t that slow, but still has a few things to juggle. With it displaying the image on the right on that particular, that is a more “complex” screen to send to the LCD. Or perhaps someone forgot to optimise the image, so the firmware is having to resize/resample it on the fly :-/ Either way, I get the rolling lag as mentioned earlier, but didn’t think that screen UI was as poorely laid out as it is… makes me wonder at times of they actually tested on the printer! Let’s just stick the close button in the middle of the image. Lets just clip this text here, put these numbers there with no reference.

Ok. Just for the record. I did downgrade the FW to the previous version and the “double screen” issue was gone. I once again upgraded to the 01.04 version and the slow loading “double/split” screen is back. So it is in the FW and not a failed update process. My old Atari 800 use to load screens faster than the A1 loads this screen. I vote on non-optimised images as the issue.

This is why I said it is the expected behaviour and not the ideal one.
