Dovetail cutting multi colour objects

I came across a problem when trying to for example scale up a complex multi colour object.

Planar cuts seem to maintain the colours ok now in BambuStudio.

But colours seem to be lost when you do dovetail cuts.

A workaround that could be used is

  1. Create a cube the exact size as the multi colour object to be cut.
  2. Dovetail cut the cube.
  3. Save the two halves as stl’s
  4. Then planar cut the original object with a slight overlap to allow room for the dovetail
  5. Then apply the appropriate ‘cutter stl’ to each half as ‘negative parts’

Would suggest setting cut points and moves and rotates with the number fields rather than mouse moves to ensure accurate alignment.

Example planar cut (with object rotated upright for easier cutting)

With negative parts applied to slightly oversized halves (object cloned and then each cloned part cut with either 20mm added or subtracted to cut point to get 40mm overlap)
