Download Limits

I totally understand the need to have download limits so that people aren’t gaming the system, otoh, I would like to keep local copies of everything I’ve stored in collections over time as I print from multiple computers across multiple states.

Having everything stored in my NAS systems just makes sense to me.

Please allow us to download whole collections OR figure out a better solution to deal with creators gaming the downloads

This is a double-edge sword. It would make it trivial to harvest models to post elsewhere.

For things you have printed, yes, but, not for things you have yet to print.

New versions and profile updates occur all the time, you would wish to print the latest version with any flaws rectified.

If you keep everything you print, you will not hit the download limits unless you have a significant number of printers working continuously.

I didn’t know that there were download limits. Does anyone know what the number is?

They have changed it a couple of times.

At one point you could only download five files if you weren’t logged in. They stopped the stupid ability to download if not logged in though.

There was also an “are you human” check if you downloaded more than ten.

I’m not sure what it is currently. I don’t believe it is so low you couldn’t print 24 hours a day with the downloads you do in a day.

Hey does anyone hit limit without knowing why. I was simply browsing through many and hit this wall. I suspect the 3d model loading on print profile pages also counted as “downloading”. Can anyone help verify.

Orange box “reaching daily download limit” comes up as I OPEN (not download) a new print profile pages. Before clicking “open in bambu studio” or “download STL/3MF”.

Well, there are two possibilities. Either you viewed a large number of 3D models in a very short period of time, which can make the system think you’re a bot or trying to game the system.

…or your IP address - such as one provided by certain VPN services - is shared among multiple users, meaning your traffic might get mixed in with theirs. Unfortunately, some cheap VPN providers do that.

Just give it about 24 hours, take things a bit slower, and - if needed - check whether you’re sharing your internet connection or IP (VPN) with anyone else.

Do you use a browser or Bambu Handy for browsing?

To look at a print profile in Handy you probably “Prepare to print”. Afaik, that’s a download.

:crossed_fingers: & :four_leaf_clover:

Thank you. Could be viewing a lot therefore if previewing on the webpage counted as download then I defo can see that gets activated.

No VPN in my case. But appreciate the response as it may help others.

Fair reminder - though I view only on the browsers.

could be useful for others if this applies.

To be fair its pretty trivial anyway with scripts to just download everything, automating things like that isn’t really that hard

True, but apparently Bambu is watching for bot-like activity. But definitely easy to do.

Yeah you just have to build a little randomness in to it and let it run over a longer period, obviously doing it all in a single day is a massive flag, but a few models here and there every few hours with a gap for “sleeping” and it won’t look any different to real traffic

…how many things are people trying to download?! I’ve gone on frantic sprees of downloading more than I could ever print in a reasonable amount of time (mostly a bunch of similar stuff trying to find just the right thing) and I’ve never hit more than a captcha from time to time.

Modern bot detection systems can look at things like how the mouse is moved.

Not sure whether Bambu has any of that implemented, but it’s not uncommon these days.

Building in random stutter isn’t exactly the hardest thing in the world

Not just stutter; can check if movement of pointer is organic, or too straight, or teleporting. Of course there are counter-measures, and counter-counter-measures, and not every site has the best detection.

Yeah you can still handle it with macros that come from actual hardware, random time between clicks, random jitter, clicks here or there, if you were determined enough to scrape the site you could do it, its a lot of effort for not a lot of gain given you realistically don’t need the entire sites worth of models, and as they are free you can just grab them whenever you need them

The better ones to harvest are the paid models and those usually end up on other services that don’t care about scraping

At some point it’s cheaper to use AI (Actually Indians) to scrape the thing.
