Hello everyone,
First, I would like to say that I may be wrong about this but I don’t think so.
I have published a few parametric models on MakerWorld and I noticed something that seems unfair compared to non-parametric models: when a user customizes a model and downloads the generated customized version, the number of downloads for the model does not increase. This means that many downloads for parametric models are not actually counted.
Can anyone shed some light on this ?
Thank you !
This has been discussed extensively previously.
As I remember that discussion, regular models earn the creator two points.
Because parametric models have the potential to generate far more downloads, and are easier to create versus many iterations across all possible configurations, creators are getting and easy pathway to a lot of points, so they will get one point per print, rather than two.
Are you sure about this ? Can you provide some links to other discussions ? If non-parametric models are rewarded more than parametric models it would be so easy for me to simply provide multiple predefined versions and earn more points, instead of taking the effort to publish the customizer and make the models much more useful. It seems completely wrong to me for non-parametric models to be favored. But I would like to know if this is really true so I can change my approach in the future.
