Downloads not counted?

In spite of all the frustration I share, it’s important to keep in mind that compensation still remains the best among the platforms.

same here mate I feel ya… sucks a bit, my cousin said same thing on his models for the contest hes pretty sad that all this work didnt even made him more then 20dl… same for me too all models are down for downloads and prints, I used to get like 400 to 500 points a day and now barely make 100 or 200 a day, very weird

I agree… but whats the point in making models if they dont get downloads

@Tanklet , can you get us some explanation is what is going on? Is this temporary or is it the new rules?

@Square3D This won’t catch the new scheme where they download the 1g square and print 20x in under half an hour. Could be implemented the same I’m guess, but who knows as they’re not showing their hand.

So far, no points today. I see some of the models have increased numbers and have had quite a few ratings given, but that is as far as it goes.

This is rather depressing. Need to get some more filament so I can print out new designs to post but maybe I should hold up for a bit. If there isn’t some benefit to uploading models, maybe it is time to pull up my models and go to a patreon or something where I can get something to sustain 3d designing and printing.

Well, i was right after all, and yes, it limits the downloads you make in a day because i had previously tested that with a friend.

Happy Easter to you all

They said they wanted a way to encourage complex prints and then change the rules to do exactly the opposite. Just flat simple prints for me now. I will be moving some of my more complex models to private until @MakerWorld figures out what a bad policy this is.

i’m moving most of my models on Printables to be fair… In less amount of time i get 10 times downloads on printables for a model uplodaded yesterday… It’s true that on printables there are more audience but is also true that there are a lot more models on Printables so it’s very strange that on a saturated platform i get more DL and Likes than on Makerworld…

Also im not getting any points for a while… My profile is banned for reedeming points but I’m still uploading because i like the website.
Do you know if there is any chance to be shadowbanned in the model proposal algorithm if you was banned from reedeming points?

An observation that struck me yesterday for the first time is the existence of models featuring prints but lacking any downloads. Evidently, this phenomenon is only discernible in newly uploaded content with zero downloads. Assessing the magnitude of this underlying issue proves challenging. Has anyone actively pursued a solution to this problem?

This may be related to:

  • Download is not counted due to the restriction, print is.

Edit:
This may also occur, when a different profile was downloaded first - but then printed another one.

This occurred on a new upload and was visible in the aggregated model statistics, not the print profile stats. I will provide a screenshot when it happens again.

I guess it’s because you’ve many multi plate designs with many unique parts. It will be interesting to see how their new solution for such complex designs will look like once they’ve announced it.

Fighting the bots might also make some little difference. I guess there are not just download bots used by single user on purpose, but i can also imagine that there were some bots that just try to scrape all kind of models from the website to collect the files. That’s something I’ve often noticed on Thingiverse back in the old days when download numbers just didn’t made sense.

The easiest thing would be to reward designers by printed kg plastic weight.

ppl would print anything… or just print without filament or send random gcode files… i really dont think this is a solution

No I mean you can judge the complexity of a design that is published on the weight of the model.

A 0,5gram model is probably less complicated than a 150gram model.

Unless you print square boxes. But nobody wants to download square boxes.

So if you have a design that is being downloaded that is relatively heavy you can assume it is more complex than other models that are lighter.

With the exception of 3D printed planes maybe…

oh i see my bad  thank you

with respect, but i cannot agree with your statement. There are also models that weigh only a few grams and yet are extremely complex. if we take some part that weighs only 15 grams, for example, but took the designer several weeks or even months to create, test, improve etc. in order to achieve a print that is usable for everyone, then this part would be more complex than a brick or a simple box or whatever, where the rectangle was only extruded upwards and the weight is only due to the size. i think i know what i’m talking about, because i have some of these on offer.

I agree. Weight does not tell the complete story.
