Druckbett fährt gegen den Boden / Heat bed drives aigainst the floor

English version below

Hallo zusammen,

Hello all,

I recently completed a somewhat “larger” print than usual.
The print bed moved almost all the way down, there was about 1cm of space between the print bed and the bottom of the printer.

When I started the printer again a few hours later, it drove the print bed against the floor during its usual self-test before printing, the whole thing sounded very unhealthy, at least for the printer.

Has anything similar ever happened to you guys?
I am actually of the opinion that something like this should not happen under any circumstances.

Mine does this also. I don’t believe there is an encoder on any axis so it can lose it’s position if the power is cycled and the bed seems to lose it’s position at the drop of a hat if it’s near either extreme. I don’t think it’s doing damage, although I’m not sure if the noise is the belt skipping or the motor missing steps. I do wish it didn’t do it.

Yup, mine does that too … first time I ran over thinking it was going to explode or something… Very Loud, I am surprised it works that way. Bambu Labs must be aware that it’s happening.
Side note, my prusa Mk3s slams in to the side and back during homing making several hard clunks, I think its the same thing with the P1P using the current peaks to distinguish end stops.

This really speaks to the need for encoders on stepper motors. Prices are reasonable, in the $10-40 range.

When I have the bed at a low position, I usually move it up manually so that this thing does not happen

I have the same issue, printing many large items and it sounds terrible and I think it is not healthy for the belt or motor on the long term. It even happens if i start a new print directly after the last one and I am wondering why this intelligent machine can’t remember its last position after printing. Should be easy to fix that in the firmware…

You are absolutely right that should not happen. My learning is before starting the next Print… move up the Bed first!!!

Mine did that one too. Since then, when the bed is almost at the bottom, i manually move the bed 4-5cm to the top.
