I have an H2D with 1 AMS, 1 AMS HT, and 2 AMS 2 Pro units. Since I live in a very humid area, I need to dry my filament spools quite often.
All my AMS units are powered separately with their own power supplies (the AMS HT has an integrated PSU). None of them are powered by the printer.
When I start drying on two units, everything works fine. But as soon as I try to activate drying on a third unit, the printer blocks it.
I really don’t understand why Bambu is imposing so many restrictions on AMS usage. To me, these limitations seem unnecessary and even counterproductive. They probably have a reason behind it, but honestly, I just can’t see what it is.
At this point, I’m seriously starting to think it’s better to use the regular AMS with mods (like Sunlu or Eibos) and forget about the new units altogether…
Everything is updated to the latest firmware (non-beta).
I have 3 AMS 2 PRO units and 4 AMS HT units, and I can dry filament using any of the AMS HTs independently. When drying with the AMS 2 PRO, however, you can’t use a unit that’s connected to the tool head currently active in the ongoing print. So I don’t believe you have more limitations than I do.
If you find yourself needing to re-dry your filaments frequently, you should check the seal integrity and replace or recharge the silica gel, as excessive moisture typically indicates an issue in one of those areas.
Thanks for the reply — maybe I didn’t explain myself clearly. None of my AMS units are in use. In fact, the filament isn’t even inserted because I usually let them rotate freely during drying.
The printer is on but idle — not printing anything. No filament is loaded.
The printer doesn’t let me start drying on more than 2 AMS units at the same time, showing a “power limit” warning on the screen.
But what power limit? They’re all powered separately with their own power supplies!
