Drying times

I recently purchased a bunch of Bambu Lab filament. I received the filament a few days ago and the ABS and PETG have been in the dryer for like 48 hours now and are still not dry. I can still see small bubbles/imperfections in my ABS which was not there with the last spool. Has this been the experience of others? The PLA I received seems to have dried sufficiently in less than 12 hours.

Drying times will very spool to spool. Rule of thumb is to dry till the weight of the spool stabilizes.

Are you drying them both at the same temperature. I think the ABS needs a higher temp.

No, I’ve kept the ABS at 70 and the PETG at 65. The moisture (bubbles) are almost gone so I guess this is just how long it takes sometimes.

I haven’t been weighing my spools. I print a single walled 30x30 cube and that usually will show bubbles if the filament is still wet. Maybe I should use a scale…

I was a bit surprised when I started weighing filament. Remember 1 gram of water is 1 cc.

Well I solved my problem. I had to reduce retraction on transparent PETG to stop the bubbles and surface imperfections.
