Duplicate Object directly on Printer LCD - That would be amazing!

I believe this would be a game changer for some users like me that Print products and parts. Sometimes I need to print different quantities of the same object and this varies depending on my orders... It's a nightmare to have a lot of different 3FMs on my printer just to have 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x, 64x, versions of the SAME object...

So I was wondering one about 2 killer features for Quality of life :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

1 - A simple way to just type a number of clones of an object directly on the printer ! So the printer would just dynamically create a 3MF with different amount of the same piece auto-lay outing it. Like, type the number of copies on screen, check the new arrangement, and print. I am not sure if the little Brain on those printers is capable of that, but worth asking. I have an X2D as a reference…

2 - Another side Feature that would be very nice to have, probably also not possible is to translate/offset the part on the table on X and Y directly on the LCD. Sometimes we have a plate that get a little scar or something and this transfer to the part, so having this option to move the entire plate around would be handy. Probably also this will be limited by the computing power of the printer I guess. But actually its just a matter of manipulating the GCode coordinates with a filter between the GCode and execution…

Bambu Handy already allows that feature. Surpise!

What you’re asking is a built-in slicer in the printer because what you’re asking for need re-slicing so it will not happen. Even a simple change of nozzle on a dual head cannot be handled by the printer…

I get what you say about the gcode manipulation but thats some serious rabbit hole. At the least it needs to recompute and add a travel movement, including knowing your rertaction, wipe, travel settings, change the extruder calcs to relative, check for colllision bounds, recalculate layer times, etc etc

Manipulating gcode isnt very robust is all im tryin to say. Handy can do it, but behind the scenes AWS is reslicing the file too.

Yeah, I was foreseeing most of those answers. Thanks for all the feedback!

I wasn’t expecting the copies thing to already be included in Handy! That’s a good surprise! I rarely use the Handy App, but now I have a reason to use it.

But this also makes me ask… Why is it supported by Handy and not by the printer? Is it something processed in the cloud between the printer and the app that makes it possible in the app?

Oops. You already answered what was puzzling me! Thanks!

So, under the hood, Handy is doing a bunch of stuff in the cloud. Cool to have this option anyway! Thanks again!

I don’t think I have that option in handy. Are those copies really clones or just multiple prints?

I think they are clones, but i’m not sure
