I have an Early-bird P1P and the extras that were gifted as part of that (fan, lcd light etc.) and decided that I wanted to print ABS on it (most of my printing is ABS/ASA), so purchased the P1P->P1S upgrade kit.
After installing one panel (the left) and the drag chain etc… I noticed that the side panel was bulging at the botton, so I removed the screws and took a look. I was slightly surprised to see that the panel tabs and pins don’t match the P1P frame.
As you can see in the picture, there are no tab holes although the pins have corresponding holes. So I have a dilemma. Should I
- Cut off the tabs and hope there are no showstopper changes that mean I can’t return it (and will it seal enough without them to print ABS and other materials with VOCs etc.)
- Grind out recesses in the frame to let me lock in the panels tightly
- Stop and wait for support to tell me that I can do either of these things (currently waiting on a reply)
- Print my own panels in ABS (on my X1-C) and carry on with the conversion so that I at least have a working franken-P1S.
