Before anyone says it, I know you should “expect” any designs you publish online to get in the hands of the freeloading grifters, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating, especially when you sell the item yourself for those without a printer.
Had a design go “viral” outside of MakerWorld and subsequently, it’s all over eBay and Etsy
Made this for myself using Codex, would it be useful for any of you? I’ll register to publish it if so.
When clicked, it searches eBay trying to find the best results that match what it pulls from the MakerWorld listing, then presents you with the results and % match (top 5 with the option to load more)
When you tick the box next to the items you want to report, you can then click the Prepare selected reports button, which generates the URL’s to click through to the reporting page
Clicking that, takes you to the eBay reporting page and pre-populates it with the IP infringements detail pre-populated and the text you’ve pre-configured in the extensions config options.

What happened:
We looked into your report and removed the content. It may take up to 24 hours for it to reflect on the site. This determination was made using automation or artificial intelligence.
We let the content uploader know about this decision and the action taken. They may have the option to fix the content to make it visible again on site. They can also appeal our decision, and we’ll review the case again and may reverse the original decision and action taken.
This is fantastic! One of the things that stops me from reporting stuff is the admin of filling out the fields. I don’t have time for it and would rather be modeling.
I’d definitely use it myself. Is it something that can be expanded to the other usual suspects like Etsy and Temu?
Thank you - I’m currently expanding it to Vinted, but their search is so rubbish it’s taking a while to get that working (rest of it works though, reported 4 things already)
I think Etsy will be difficult to do, as they want to you jump through hoops to file a claim. Could add the search in though
Oh right, I forgot about Etsy’s added hoops where you have to have your IP already registered with them in order to issue a DMCA. It’s a pain in the butt and yet another reason why I haven’t tried in recent times.

I’ve got the Vinted thing working now, but turns out with them, unless you go through again quite a lengthy IP process, it’s probably a bit pointless as the items reported don’t breach their “community standards”
eBay one is definitely doing the job intended, had some of the more “stubborn” ones removed this morning, just waiting for the guy that was an absolute **** to me via eBay messages to get his taken down, can’t wait
I think for the other platforms, Etsy, Vinted, Temu, AliExpress etc.. the best this can really do is fine the items and prepare the evidence you’d need to submit for them.
I’ve messaged Vinted to ask why these don’t breach community standards, so let’s see, but not holding out much hope with them

Also, what method do you suggest for finding grifters on other seller spaces (Like Temu & Etsy)? I’ve been searching for them through google image-based search almost every week, but I have too many models that unfortunately have gone viral outside of Makerworld, and it takes literally forever.
Do you know a way to like.. scrape data somehow and compile a code to make this a bit more automated?
I can build the search of Etsy / Temu into this, but the reporting is such a faff, the best it could really do is prepare the evidence for you to submit. All it’s doing, is firing up windows and performing the searches then analysing the results, you see the new tab opening and doing the business
Sadly there are thieves all over with no sense of morals or ethics, who “cannot sleep unless they have done evil”. That’s the state of this world. The problem exists even on MakerWorld. How many designs do we see on MakerWorld that are direct rips of other designs (or the same download from some 3D files site)… or people making minor “modifications” and trying to cash in on the credits of someone else’s work.
