Edges of flat objects curl up

Hi all!!! I currently print with bambu pla matte and i notice that the edges of plat objects shrink up.Not all of them.If i print 2 objects and each have 4 corners,2 of them will be like that,and not the same all the times…

I tried lowering 1st layer temp from 60 to 55, turning cooling fan off for 6 first layers,setting aux fan to 20% from 70 that it was, reducing the times of printing and layers,reducing the layer height,putting brims to the corners with 0 gap…

The bed is the textured plate that came with the purchase of the printer and is cleaned after every print

Any other ideas?


Use newly dried filament, increase 1st layer temp by 5° versus default and keep your build chamber/area warm (35° is good for PLA).

the filament is dried,my printer is a1 mini so no chamber,it draws filament straight from the dryer.

In my country we have pretty hot summer this year,with temps of 42 celsius.So,we use air contitioning to cool the house.I keep my room at around 28 celsius. If i turn them off to raise the temp of the room,we re gonna sweat to our death,and there are elderly in the house who are more sensitive…

Well, the 28°C is already pretty good. As long as the printer away from drafts (air conditioning, doors,…).
But considering the filament dryness, did you dry it yourself or is it new?

What is clear is that such a small PLA print should really not warp (so significantly).
Also, how is your build plate adhesion? Are you cleaning it with water, dishwashing liquid and a clean, stiff brush? The Textured Plate has the habbit of collecting dust, etc in its valleys.
So it works very well for a while until very suddenly, it looses adhesion. With the dust and grime “baked-in”, it does take some serious scrubbing to get it operational again. That is particularly tricky if the plate cleaning was previously done using the IPA wipe only approach.

Once the filament dryness, draft check and plate cleaning approach have been addressed, we can have a look at settings and slicer previews. Most of your mentioned changes are very good for warp prevention (except the lower 1st layer build plate temp decrease, you want a higher 1st layer temp), but there are some pitfalls.

The filament was out of the box and air sealed bag(the one bambuseals the filaments in) and when i opened it,i put it in the dryer for 8 hours to dry as a precaution.

I clean plate with a fibercloth and warm water-dishsoap solution,then i rub it with some ipa

8 hours in the drier should truly have been enough. So we can tick that off.

Regarding the plate, I have found that sometimes I really need to get down into valleys. So using a clean, stiff brush with plenty of (non-perfumed) dishwashing liquid and running water can really help to wash out the grime. Such a small print should really not come off the plate. Especially since you are using brim ears.

Coming to settings, it is usually best to start at the defaults and then change individual entries or at least limit changes to a single effect.
For example, in order to improve print plate adhesion, you can increase 1st layer (only!) temps by 5° for the bed and 5-10° for the nozzle. If the plate is clean and brim ears are present (on all corners?), that should be more than sufficient. Although you can of course also reduce the brim gap.
As a desperate measure, you could also increase first layer line width. But if you need to go that far with PLA Matte, then there’s something else seriously wrong with your set-up (drafts?), filament and/or plate.

Next comes the root cause for warping/curling. The more heat is added per layer, the more uneven the cool down. (It is at this stage that the cooling of recently printed lines causes layer shrinking, pulling lower layers upwards.) So a lower layer height and/or reduced print speeds can help a lot.
Of course cooling settings could be altered, but I have found that to be a Box of Pandora. Changing printing speeds and layer heights is much easier to control.
