Update. Ebios has blocked me for posting pictures of it lol. They know this is an issue. They know they do not make safe products.
So for a while now i have been testing every dryer available to find one that is within 5% of the advertised claims. Months of testing and logging dryers and Eibios is not looking good. But i did not expect much when i seen they are using ABS. Fixdry went out of there way to sell a 50c dryer as a 70c unit by using a curve on the DTH11 that is set up to read 50c as 70c. But at least its got acceptable build quality and they used the right materials in places these needed to go. They may be liars and scamming people but they do sell a safe product.
Update.
New one came today. Not a warranty replacement one I ordered before posting any information.
Still built like it’s a $10 dryer off wish. Ran it set to 70c for 4 hours and no signs of overheating the cheap abs. Still fails to maintain my 5% spec for claimed temps. Meets the spec to 60c 70c it is 5.58% lower. So it’s a fail. But better then the Fixdry scam dryer that is 28.25% off. That fixdry is a 50c unit with a DTH11 running a calibration to make it look like it’s hitting 70c.
Thermal images it’s clear the heater is not working properly. It’s in line with the previous so I’m going to bet they are using units that binned lower because they don’t function properly. This explains a lot and why my first unit did what it did and why they are trying to hide it.
But I’ll keep testing this unit. Regardless my big dryer shootout to find a dryer that works as advertised and can hit 5% min of the advertised specs Ebios is disqualified for the following.
-Poor design with a few dangers.
-No overheating protection
-Cheap materials used
-Attempt to cover up an issue
-Falty unit could of posed a risk
-Both units failed to hit 5%
If this one melts I’ll post more information. But the quest to find a honest manufacturer and the absolute best 3D printer fillament dryer remains. I got about 8 more to test and a few new 2024 modules coming soon to test out.
Used the new one for a few hours appears to be running fine.
Also ran the faulty unit and it just keeps going. So despite what Eibos claims it does not have any safeguards and is why they were trying to hide this. Some searching online and contacting people I seen some other reports of this issue. Traced this back to a faulty thermistor.
So my final thoughts.
Units are junk. No only do that use cheap materials they are useing low quality thermistors and heaters. After looking at the components it’s clear why they are trying to hide this. It’s one thing lieing about specs. Fixdry is very very dishonest about there specs. But the units are built well and safe. They have working safeguards in place. And I’ll forgive that more then a company cutting more corners and cutting them harder then a no name item off wish. If you decide to use an Eibos dryer make sure you have a fire extinguisher on hand. Also note I am picking up VOC’s when the faulty unit is running. So protect your self and don’t think Eibos cares about you or quality because they don’t.
So after a few days on the new unit it is showing some signs and I’m picking up some VOC’s they are low but starting to show up now. These dryers are complete trash.
