Empty Layers

I am trying to make a bookmark with the statue of Liberty on one side and text plus QR Code on the other. I turned an image of the statue into line art, used Image to Keychain to create a .5 mm thick image placed within a 1mm thick rectangle.

Inside Bambu Studio, I used a rounded rectangle negative part to give the bookmark rounded corners. Then I flipped the bookmark over and added text on the back side. I haven’t added the QR code yet.

When I did a test slice, Bambu Studio complained that it can’t be printed due to empty layer between .2 and .8.

How do I fix this? How can it wind up empty? Thank you for the help.

A slicer is good at slicing, a CAD program good at creating models…
No offence but trying this through model makers and Studio is for me a bit like trying to milk a cow while wearing a space suit - it is more hassle than what the milk is worth…

We are talking about a 1mm thick thing that already has a 0.5mm insert added to it.
I guess the text is supposed to be flush with the surface?
That would leave a max of 5 layers, 4 if you want at least one solid layer in between.
How did you create/add the text to it?
As a modifier, as a new part?
Might sound a bit nagging but having the offending 3MF file to look at things might help those trying help

@ user_3026326371Thank you for your response. My experience with the model makers has mostly been frustrating. I have one model where it worked out for me. I am going to give up and model it in Blender. It will be easier for all the issues this has presented. I’ve just seen a lot of interesting things made with the model makers and thought it might be helpful and perhaps quick for something this simple. But I honestly do want to know why in the world there are suddenly empty layers in this thing.

You are right the text is supposed to be flush with the surface. I made the line drawing of the statue of liberty in Photoshop, used image to keychain to create the model without a background, created a rectangle shape, then imported it into Bambu Studio, created the rounded rectangle shape as a negative part.

The trouble seems to come in after I added the text and sunk it down into the model.

I apologize, I didn’t think to upload the file. You were not nagging nor sounding that way. Thank you for pointing it out to me. I am including the file with the empty layers and the original, untouched file with just the statue of liberty.

Mostly, I’d like to understand why the empty layers developed. Not sure how to fill it in. Though I suppose taking it in blender is the answer. lol.

Thank you for any help.

Next, I flipped the bookmark face down, added text with Bambu’s text tool.

Uploaded links to 3mf files are broken right now.

You will need to use a web service to share the files, WeTransfer for example.
