I have noticed upon the completion of extrusion of the final layer of filament, the print head on my X1C will jump around to several points around my printed object, but it happens so quickly I can’t tell what it is doing. I’m wondering if it is checking the top layer by bumping into it with the nozzle and taking measurements similar to what happens when bed leveling?
My printer does this too on some prints. I think it is filling in gaps on the top layer. So you dont have ugly gaps on the top layer.
I could be wrong but just a guess.

I believe that is a very good guess. I noticed this too some time ago and watched it more closely the next time I printed the same model.
You can see this if you look at the preview of the model. Just zoom in and look at those spots. Here is an example (not top layer) where you can see how it will add a tiny blob after all the perimeters.
Me too. However I think this is just a slicer problem because I think the operation is unneeded and it really just leaves more uneven spots. Hope BBL could solve this.
