I do not remember seeing this behavior discussed, but I found today that if your print job finishes where the spool has run out in the AMS but filament is still present in the Bowden tube path to the extruder, the printer will purge the entire amount in the tubes as large poops until the path is clear since it cannot be retracted. For me where I have AMSs located under the table the printer is sitting on, this can make for a lot of poop to clear out of a long tube path.
I would like to see an option building on the other popular request to not unload filament at the end of the print - I could have used that 4 ft or so of filament for my next print.

I also noticed this and just came to check for any solutions. I had it happen before so was trying different things to try and solve it myself. In one case I had a second roll of the same color to add to the print as it was printing and instead of using the last 15 inches of the first roll it wanted to purge that and start the next layers with the fresh roll. So I thought to let it run out before adding the new line but even when I did that it purged a lot of the new line in the beginning wasting a lot of filament in the process. I also had it print a layer and then purge and then print a layer and then purge which just seemed really random to me. Iām not sure what to do about it especially when some of my fancier filament rolls are only 250 grams and are already sparse of material.
