Ender 3 SI Pro with BambuStudio

I just bought a klipper based sonic pad for my ender printer and unfortunately it comes with settings for UltiMaker slicer. Before I bought the klipper I user and really liked the SuperSlicer. My neighbor just bought a BL P1S. I do all of his CAD work and printer guidance so I thought why not use the Bambu Studio slicer. I have it working but I cannot get nearly the speed from it vs what is available with the UltiMaker. I don’t need now want to have the ender printer go as fast, but somewhat faster would be good. I also plan to buy the P1P as soon as I can afford it.

After all of that, my question is, is there a place where Bambu Studio/Orca uses some specific machine limit that is causing this slowdown? I can see that on all printing features, the studio is slower than the ultimaker. I’ve tried everything I can find.

Speed is in “Max volumetric speed” in filament settings, and in actual speed settings tab for every print profile/object. If You set up max volumetric speed to 10mm^3/s and outer diameter printing speed to 500 mm/s, for 0.4 nozzle and 0.2 layer high it will be printed in 125 mm/s speed.
And I don’t know why Bambu have default 12mm^3/s for all filaments, even if my cheap 10$ per kilo filament easily pass max volumetric speed test at 25 (for safety I set up 22) and print amazing.
Actualy for better tune filament in Bambu You need to do 3 tests: temperature, flow ratio and max volumetric speed. Pressure advance=faktor K Bambu do automatically before print.

A few things to check:

  1. Under the printer settings there is a “Motion Ability” tab that sets the max speeds.
  2. Under the filament settings there is a “Max Volumetric Speed” value
  3. Also under the filament settings “Cooling” tab there is a check mark “Slow printing down for better layer cooling”.

Those are three things that will sometimes cause a slowdown.

Then there is the standard “speed” tab under the “Process” settings.

With Klipper there are also some speed settings in the printer.cfg but off the top of my head I can’t remember if they override the sliced Gcode or vice versa. Those lines are:

Thank you @poostoon and @PrinterMcgee for your assistance. I have tried and retried all of the suggestions, some helped some, but I still think this is somewhat different.

If I take the same object and slice it in each of the slicers the results are:
UltaMaker vs BambuStudio
Inter Wall: 18m vs 11m
Outer Wall 12m vs 10m
Infill: 11m vs 25:23 + 23:32m

Material: 5m, 15.7g vs 7m, 21.4g

It is interesting to note that the big difference is in infill. I can change the wall speeds to 500m/s as suggested and the wall times can come closer. I could live with this, but the infill times seem like the big problem.

I looked at the material and thought maybe the BambuStudio is just printing more material at infill. Both slicer models are very different so I am just figuring this out. It turns out that UM has a switch to connect infill lines that was unchecked. I assume this means that the infill is not connected to to walls. If I check this box, infill print time changes to 12m and material used goes to 6.12m, 19g. This add an extra 1.12m of material so with this change the material is closer but the time is still way off.

I don’t need the fastest speed, I just want to have a little more flexibility. I will try some different objects and see if I can make some other sense. Any comments would be appreciated.

Actually I suggested not increase speed but increase Max volumetric speed, because at 12mm^3/s at default it only can print with 125mm/s linear speed regardless of the set speed in slicer.

fwiw, with my ender, cura always underestimated the times. For an actual real time speed comparison, then you would need to make a detailed check of all the settings in each slicer, for each infill pattern etc. to make sure you are printing exactly the same thing in each case, then you will notice little difference.
