Erratic Chamber Fan Speeds

I am trying to understand the Chamber Fan and the things that affect how it works.

I have a P1S Combo and have seen the Chamber Fan speed vary wildly based on the filament I am using. If I use the filament samples that come with the printer, the Chamber Fan barely seems to register. If I change to (as I am now) Overture PLA, then for some reason the Chamber Fan wants to run at 100%

It does this with no prompting from me and will go from 100% when I select the Overture PLA to zero when I select the Bambu PLA filament.

I can of course change the Chamber Fan speed while the print is running, but would
rather understand what is causing this behavior because I’m not sure it’s necessary.

Does anyone have any idea what’s going on here?

Unfortunately in Bambu Studio the Chamber fan is only configurable from the Filament Start GCode. This is configured per filament profile, and seems most of the third party filaments (PLA at least) all have this set to 100% (value S255).

I’ve since reconfigured my main filaments to use around 127-150 which is around 50-60%.

Orca has more control over the Fan Speeds, but still configured in the Filament profiles, just with nice GUI fields.

Thanks for this reply @Slothy89

I saw that someone else had posted a similar question and after reading that went digging for the filament based fan settings. It’s just something I will need to be on my guard for when using different filament, but it does lend itself to forgetting about trying to match the BambuLabs preconfigured filaments list and just settings everything to “Generic” and setting the Chamber Fan Speed there.
