Exclusive Qualification

I not posting this to complain, just seeking the thoughts of those with more Maker World experience than I.
The other day I had points removed from two models because they did not meet the criteria of the Exclusive guidelines. Foolishly, foolishly I did not look into the exclusive criteria that thoroughly (which is kinda vague) prior to making them Exclusive. I figured it just meant exclusive to maker world, posted no where else. Lesson learned……
Pretty much all of my models are in the program. Now that I kinda know what is expected I would remove the ones I think might not qualify from the program. However, the problem is I cannot remove them from the program because the have not been in the program for 90 days. So my only choice is to make them private for another 60 day or so or risk losing all of the acclimated points, if deemed not qualified, not just the Exclusive points, yes all points.
So if you would please take a look at the pic, do you think it qualifies as Exclusive? It is listed as Exclusive but I made it private just in case. It’s probably worth two gift cards so far.
Thanks!

I mean, i have no idea what it even is, it doesn’t look like something that meets the exclusive criteria, its something you could mock up in fusion in about 5 minutes

Hold down for laser honeycomb

I dont think they would get taken down I mean they arent 2d and are for a purpose

Yep probably right, it’s private now….

Those aren’t the requirements for an exclusive model, you can find the actual program guidelines here MakerWorld Exclusive Model Guideline | Bambu Lab Wiki

It’s there ballpark they make the rules and I am more than happy to comply. The guidelines are very subjective at best. Other than the bullet points model types they list, bookmarks, coasters flat/plane/2D etc. I’m not sure what structurally sophisticated actually means? I would say the that my laser hold down is not structurally sophisticated, it serves a purpose and people seem to like it but who knows? The pic shows a model I took down because it’s not structurally sophisticated in my opinion.
I have made 15 or so models private some I am sure do not meet the requirements. When the 90 days are up and I can relist them I will contact bambu and ask if they meet the guidelines before putting them into the Exclusive program.

I read them it should pass

I think a good way to know what they are looking for is to look at the three examples they gave in the wiki:

Needless to say I’ve removed all my models from the program.

Ok and in what way is it highly detailed and structurally sophisticated?

Like, not to knock the guy, but its literally 2 sketches in fusion 360 with a handful of fillets, i’m sure the model serves its purpose, but given that exclusive models are something they use to promote the site, do you think thats going to draw attention?

Those models are fantastic! Nothing I have comes close… As I said I will be checking with Bambu before I put anything exclusive.

They say that but then thay say this:

Model types not meeting requirements

To clarify our expectations for Exclusive Models, we’ve outlined specific types of models that are not suitable for the program. Please note that this doesn’t mean these models are of low quality, and we still welcome you to upload them to MakerWorld. They simply don’t align with the specific requirements and expectations of the Exclusive Model Program.

  1. Models that are flat/plane/2D, or those which aren’t structurally sophisticated, usually including:
  • Hueforges & Lithophanes
  • Keychains
  • Bookmarks
  • Coasters
  • Fridge Magnets
  • Cake Toppers
  • Badges & Coins
  • Filament Clips
  • Box Openers
  • Test Models

Note: Adding a simple stand or increasing the thickness of these models to make it vertically stand doesn’t qualify them into the program.

  1. Models that are created by taking existing images, logos, or signs and using tools like Lithophane and Lightboxes generators to convert them into 3MF or STL files. Additionally, models designed mainly using these existing visual elements are also not allowed.
  2. Models made with these MakerLab Tools
  • Lightbox Maker
  • Flexi Toy Maker
  • Relief Sculpture Maker
  • Make My Statue
  • PrintMon Maker
  • Make My Lithophane
  • Image to Keychain
  • Pixel Puzzle Maker
  • Make My Sign
  • Image to 3D Model
  • Make My Lantern
  • Shadowbox Maker
  • AI Scanner
  1. Variations of existing models. For example, V2/V3 of the same filament clip or orange peeler. If it’s an entirely new design, rename it as a new model but not using the same name and adding a V2. Only enter one version into the program. Other versions of the same model will be removed for not meeting the requirement for originality.

The model in question does not fall under any of these catogoies.

Come now, it also has an offset plain and a loft too HAHA. Would it attract people to Maker World? Not the geometricflexifidgetpuppy crowd (nothing at all against that stuff) which is more than likely the vast majority of users. However, I had a 3D printer long before there was a Bambu labs and discovered Bambu watching a youtube woodworking channel and have seen 3D printers featured on many woodworking channels. So yeah, woodworking and laser people might come here to find things. So should simple but functional models be featured? Beats me that up to them.
BTW check out the pic I found this listed as exclusive. Should it be? Not my call but my guess it does what its supposed to do and fulfills a need.

Those aren’t all of the exclusions, you do know that right?

Thats just a short list of examples, there will never be an exhaustive list for what does or does not count as trying to list every single possible item on the planet isn’t going to be possible, they are just covering the most common bases

No it shouldn’t, by all means report it, MW doesn’t proactively police things they wait until someone requests a payout or until the model gets reported

Not going to happen. I’m not a finger pointer unless something is stolen. If it is an issue then it is between Bambu and the designer, there is no consequence to me,

Yes I know that I think what he should do is put in a support ticket and ask.

That’s not really the issue though… the problem is this actually.

…now, one or two months ago they added…

Unfortunately, they didn’t specify whether that means, only when it’s the entire model or already just a part of it. The problem with the latter… how little a part would it have to be to not count. So, I ended up making this one not exclusive because I added three figurines that I couldn’t be bothered anymore modeling by hand. and for a 1:24 scale the detail is good enough in the overall diorama.

…is it worth the 20% increase in points? Basically, I’ll end up with 5 gift cards instead of 6, is what 20% means… if it even ends up getting that many points. Assume, somebody reports it because they bothered to read the model description and see that I used Image-to-3D for the figurines. It’s one plate out of 36, out of 80+ print hours and 1kg+ filament.

…hardly worth the risk, I’d say.
