Exhausting fumes

Hi,

Has anyone put their X1 or P1S in an extra print tent, something like this - https://www.amazon.com.au/Comgrow-Enclosure-Temperature-Protective-635x535x750mm/dp/B098BBH89R/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1RLZMMUV796GQ&keywords=3d%2Bprinter%2Btent&qid=1697088504&sprefix=3d%2Bprinter%2Btent%2Caps%2C258&sr=8-5&th=1 and then exhausted the fumes from there?

I print in my home and I can smell PLA nevermind ABS which is just horrible.

From what I have read putting a little carbon filter and HEPA filter inside the printer wont actually stop you inhaling all the toxic gases and tiny micro particles so i just want to vent as much as possible out the window

Thanks

It is true, carbon filtration for volatile organic compounds, especially as you get into ABS ASA etc are not sufficient without proper ventilation, which is to say, they are not a good method unless you have access to near industrial grade equipment built specifically for removing gasses from the atmosphere.

I’ve been using an Adafruit PM2.5 breakout kit that works really well with Arduino boards, it will give you peace of mind about the quantity of particulates in your air. it was roughly 45 USD for the sensor. It did not like the I2C interface on my Pico W though.

Yes. I have this one & am happy with it. Theres lots of room to be able to move spools in & out of the ams. You can also have the printer door open for pla/petg while keeping the enclosure shut.

Wait you put an enclosed printer in ANOTHER enclosure? Which also insulates? I guess if you have a P1P that might work

Whats wrong with putting x1c in the enclosure? I havent had any issues.

The one you’ve got looks really good, it wasnt available where I live so I bought the biggest Creality one, it is massive but definitely room to access the AMS and everything else no problem, just got to figure out how to vent as it doesnt have a specific vent hole but does have a couple that I can adapt.

Thanks

I have the big creality one for my other printer. There is an exhaust vent hole on it. Ill send pics when I get home.

The first enclosure is for print quality, the second is for venting the fumes
This is a very good read - https://all3dp.com/1/3d-printing-emissions-air-quality/

What’s your point? That you now have volatile compounds floating in two airspaces so more can escape? again you also miss the point

I´ve mines within a repurposed wardrobe, which allows me to install proper filtration and extraction, besides reducing noise and heating energy consumption.
The main goal was, however, noise, dust and moisture control.

the second airspace is vented outside by a fan…

Yeah it has a circular hole at the back which I think is designed for the cables but because the enclosure is so damn big that is right up against my wall.
I’ll either have to alter the location or cut a hole and attach my hose on the side

Ahh that makes sense, thanks. I assumed it was for the hose because it looks like the same diameter as the vent hose my other enclosure came with. In that case I think ill cut a hole in the enclosure & print a hose fitting that clamps onto the fabric.
