Has anyone used the new(ish) Sunlu high speed PLA+ 2.0 filament for functional prints and have experience to share?
Most of my prints are functional, and sometimes I need to go from requirements to a finished print in a day or two. Most of my prints aren’t exposed to high heat or used outside and exposed to UV, so a tough PLA filament that can print very well and very quickly is ideal. I can’t really wait on Bambu shipping, even if they have their new PLA Tough+ filament available now. I can grab Sunlu’s high speed PLA+ 2.0 filament from Amazon and have it same day or next day, so I ordered a few colors of that to try out.
I’ll be starting testing with an H2D with high flow 0.4mm nozzles and an X1C also with a high flow nozzle in the Microswiss hotend with upgraded heating, and thankfully now have the Bambu PLA Tough+ profiles as a starting point for creating my own custom profiles. If this doesn’t work out, I can try the same testing with Bambu PLA Tough+, but it would be really nice to have a tough PLA filament that prints well and fast that I can have in my hands in one day or less if I need a color other than white, black, or gray that I keep in stock. It’s also a huge bonus that I can have it to my door for $12 or less per kg on the excellent (better than Bambu) new gen3 Sunlu spools.
Before I go through the trouble of all of the calibrations necessary for functional models (temp, flow rate, PA, retraction, max flow, shrinkage), I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried the same and found this filament to not be worth the trouble.
(Please note that I’m only asking about Sunlu high speed PLA+ 2.0 filament. I appreciate those willing to share, but I’m not asking for input on Sunlu filament in general or what other PLA filaments have worked well for your non-functional models like fidgets and flexi dragons. )
