Extruder bit loose on carbon rods

Hi
Is it normal to have a bit of play on housing that connects to the rods? if i hold it i can move it slightly from side to side

Do you mean the middle and rear plastic housing, or the toolhead itself?
It’s the toolhead that rides on the carbon rods. It should not have a lot of “play”.
The grey plastic housing does not ride on the rods, but with the toolhead to which it is mounted. It’s not even supposed touch the carbon rods.

Not sure I (we) understand completely what you mean.
I personally had two different plays on my X1C

  1. the screws connecting the toolhead housing were a bit loose, causing backlash
    but also
  2. the toolhead had play between itself and the carbon rod bearings

The first one could be somewhat fixed by removing the rear housing and then tightening the top screws holding the shell together.
The second required dismantling the whole toolhead.
I would advise against just tightening the screws, it’s better to dismantle the toolhead, inspect everything and if needed, put a shim between the toolhead and the bearing/bushing. You should be able to find a forum thread if you search through my posts…

Hi
Thank you for replying, sorry i have not replied sooner as i have been away
I think i understand what your saying , when printing and its doing what i call short strokes i think that’s the word lol it makes a sort of rumbling noise, how easy or hard is it to dismantle the tool head to maybe tighten the screws or clean it

Hi
Is this issue going to be resolved any time soon? I only have this printer and not really able to print anything due to the noise i get. I put a ticket in on the 13 january and still had no Response as to what is going to happen

Hi
It’s the tool head thats the problem. there is quite a bit of play on the rods. i have stripped it down and all screws are tight . I am very disappointed the lack of response from Bambu this is still under warranty and did not expect to have a major problem like this so soon. So please either replace this printer or send the parts i need to fix it. I have sent videos of the problem and it seems like i’m just ignored
Awaiting your reply
Regards
Paul
