Extruder clicking

I have two new A1 printers both of them have had clogged nozzles, I fixed them both, only had these printers for two weeks . Why do filament pieces keep getting clogged? I am using poly maker pla is there certain speeds and settings I can change to fix this problem? Thanks

Try raising the nozzle temperature. You need to calibrate the filament with the printer.

Thanks ,will give it a try

Did raising the temp work?

I lowered it to 58 added glue stick took care of it . Thanks

I’ve had mine 1 week work fine now is clicking also. It was working fine at first now a few days later clicking I have the nozzle at 220 PLA filament. When I got the A1 it was set at 240 degrees but seemed like i was getting a lot of “spider web” all over so I lowered it to 220. I also have had issue with it leaving spots of a different color in places it shouldn’t be

What did you lower to 58? I’m having the same problem with the clicking

The extruder “clicking” is a telltale sign that the extruder is skipping steps as a result of the nozzle temperature being too low for the filament being printed or the nozzle being partially clogged.

Ok. The PLA says temps should be 190-220. So maybe I will try and clear the nozzle. Just thought it was weird it was clogged. I have barely used it.

I would not use the spec’d temperature on the filament. Your best course of action is to print a temperature tower and dial in the optimal filament printing temperature. The temperature specified on the filament is often lower than what current “high speed” printers need.

So I cleaned the nozzle it worked for about 45-60 min just fine and now its clicking again. I had the A1 Mini and had zero problems. This one is a pain so far. My temp is set to the temp on the side of the filament. Now its shutting down about every 5 min.

Perhaps read my reply?

Ok sorry. I thought it said I would use the spec temp. I apologize

Ok So I tried to do the temp tower and my filament wont work. I did a youtube video to clean the nozzle. With temp at 280 and helping feed the filament into the extruder it works. at the same temp if I dont help it it just clicks. Same happens at 220 temp. My filament is Elegco 1.75mm. Normally I have used Creality 1.75. I had over 40 Hours on this A1 with no problems no I cant get it to work.

Soooo no response here for this universel problem?

The temperature is 220 or above, the extruder is no clogged, I checked it obviously…

Ok so noone really knows about this failure…

Nozzle clogs can occur for a number of reasons:

  • Residue from dissimilar higher melting filament remaining in the nozzle
  • Printing to cold
  • Printing to hot (280°C on PLA will certainly do that)
  • Dirt on the filament
  • Abrasion residue from the PTFE’s travelling with the filament
  • Dissimilar material having been abraded in the extruder
  • Poking around in the nozzle with a needle used on another filament type (ask me how I know)
  • Bent nozzle
  • and the list surely goes on

Do you are probably best off looking in particular at removing the clog (How did you do that before? On my X1 I do not bother with anything but a hex key cold pull to really get everything out) and cleaning the extruder before trying to print something simple.

Where you able to solve it?
I have the same issue, I clean everything, and works well for about 30 mins and then it starts clicking
