Hello, I had a clog in the nozzle and filament also broke inside the extruder. I cleared the nozzle jam and most of what I could pull from the extruder. When loading a new filament, the extruder cannot catch it to pull it through to the nozzle. So that tells me that I probably ave more inside of it. Can someone please tell me if I have to disassemble everything in the toolhead portion, or is there an easier way to get this back in track, I tried everything over the last 6 hours. Please forgive me if my terms are incorrect, I am still learning.
HI - I had the same issue once on my X1. Had to remove the extruder (3 hex bolts) and then open the extruder itself to remove the stuck filament. Sounds pretty intimidating but just be super careful, remember what you took apart and keep the screws you remove safely. There are good instructions on the Wiki to remove extruder etc,
X1 Extruder removal
Note: With a 3d Printer at one point of the other the tools that came with the printer will come in handy Welcome!!
Thank you, I will try that. Thank you for the link!
Thank you for your help, I am now a pro at taking off and disassembling the extruder. I pulled it all the way apart, and took out the filament that was stuck inside, re-assembled it,
Now the sensor is telling me that I still need to pull the excess filament out of the extruder (there is no filament in the extruder).
The AMS does not feed the filament all the way through to the extruder now and the extruder gears are running, trying to extrude filament that is not there. I have a new extruder on the way in. May have to order a filament sensor, that’s all I can think of it this point. This printer is only about a month and a half old.
So onto new adventures but thank you for your help with this last one.
Either the filament sensor is stuck or the wire harness isn’t plugged in fully is my guess. I’ve had both of those happen to me.
Thank you, I checked all connections and they were secure. My new extruder came in today and once I hooked it up and worked perfectly. I am keeping the old extruder and will fiddle around with it, thank you for your suggestions.
You may have had an issue if you removed the connector with the silicone glue on it as the instructions advise. You actually do not need to do this - it is easier to remove the 2 screws holding the filament sensor to the extruder and just pull it out. But be careful when reinstalling it as the screws go into plastic, not metal.
Thank you, I kept the old extruder to mess around with, that could have been the problem.
