I have a failed print jammed in between the print head and the bed. Unfortunately, it is cylinder shaped, so I cannot pull it out. I tried moving the z axis down, but it first wants to “home”, which it cannot do because the print is jammed in there. If I turn the printer off then on, the first thing it wants to do is “home”, just further jamming the print into the head. It seems impossibly stuck, even though it would be easy to remove the print if I could just lower the bed. Any ideas?
My X1 complains when I try to move anything before homing. But I can choose to ignore that on the display.
If it shows the cooling display instead of the axis movement display, just selecting the fan control area gets me back to the axis control panel.
Finally, with the printer turned off, you should be able to turn the z-axis by hand. A bit slippery, dirty and tricky, but you could also tilt the printer back to move the z-axis belt by hand as it is accessible from underneath.
Hope this helps,
Eno
Turn off the printer, tip it or slide it partially off the bench, reach underneath, grab the belt and lower the bed.
Thanks, I found another way that worked. When I turn it on, and the popup window instructs me to “home” before movement, there are two options: one is to accept the “home”, but the other is to simply “close” the dialogue box. If I close it instead of homing, I can then hit the button to lower the z-axis by 10mm. When I do this, the same dialogue pops up again, but it does move. So by repeatedly closing that dialogue box instead of accepting the “home” operation, I can move z-axis down 10mm at a time. After doing this about 10 times I was able to reach in and remove the print.
