Failure to Print After Filament Change

I have used my P1P to print two color magnetic medallions since I got it earlier this year. I print most of the model with black filament, pausing to insert magnets, and then switch to white filament to finish the text on top. I’m using the AMS.

When it comes time to switch to white, the black retracts and the white loads just fine. It purges white filament into the poop chute as expected. But then when it goes back to the expected position to resume printing it just sits there. I finally noticed that at that time the extruder is running in reversion, trying to remove the filament.

Has anyone else seen this happen?

Thanks in advance…

I experienced exactly the same issue!

It does look like this happens if you pause in between a multi-color print now that you mentioned it. I tried it twice (with pauses) and decided not to reprint it.

Otherwise, multi-color printing is still working well. I’d be interested in seeing if there’s anyone else experiencing the same thing. Feels like it’s an edge-case bug.

Good to know I’m not the only one!

Ive had this happen a few times (in a 5 color print, I added a pause and then unloaded the 4th position filament and loaded a different color for 5) sometimes it feeds and works, sometimes I have to manually do a “Load” from either handy or a nearby computer. It’s not entirely reliable though…

Yeah this is really weird. I’ve been doing these simple 2-color prints since I got the P1P/AMS, and it only started doing this recently. I just don’t understand how the filament loads successfully and purges the nozzle fine, but then moves to where it should resume printing and just sits there with the extruder gears running in “unload” mode.
