False filament run out alert

Hi all,

Im a happy user of X1 Combo. Totally blown away by the performance quality and ease of use.

Yesterday I started first multicolour print and unfortunately it did not go as painless as anything I’ve done previously.

I had several false alerts regarding a filament run out from slot 4.

Im using basic y-splitter print from printables to utilise easier external spools. So after 3 alerts where i had to unplug asm and plug it back in i decided to drop it and see if this will address the issue, as i thought that the path to the printer is too long and its triggering a sensor.

Unfortunately after i woke there was same alert waiting for be to cleared, which required this tome just retry button press.

Anyone experienced similar?

All the spools in ASM are Bambulabs and material is basic PLA.

You gave us lots of info, but still missing something in translation.

By drop it, you mean lowered it as in placed the AMS somewhere other than on top of the X1?

What is the code that is telling you to unplug and plug back in the AMS? Can you post a picture of the X1 screen when the code comes up?

Try removing the “Y” splitter and see if that corrects the issue. I also have one and had to make some modifications for reliable feeding every time. 3 out of 4 times the filament would pass right through, the 4th time it would jam up.

After removing Y-splitter is still alerting me every few layers. Its not affecting only one slot but actually on different occasions is one or thr other.

Also it looks like at some instances it was loosing the connectivity with AMS - it was disapearing from the options tab on the printer.

I replugged all the pin cables going from the printer to the hub to the AMS and it is stable for the last 10 layers.

I will leave an update if this was an issue.

Some pictures of the error codes attached.

After repluging all the data cables, the issue didnt repeat. So easy plug it out plug it in fixed the problem.
