I know this request was made back in 2023, and had a lot of support but it does not appear to have been added or a response from Bambu Labs, so I am raising it again.
Can you please add the ability to automatically switch off the light when the printer is inactive. I know yo can manually do it, but for it to switch off after, maybe, 10 minutes of inactivity would be great.
My flashforge adventurer 5m Pro does this after 15 minutes.
I think this may require a firmware change for the P1 series.
X1C does this already. If you turn off the light while inactive, the light stays off during bed levelling, calibration, initial flow lines, and then turns on for the actual print (for the camera). Light turns off as soon as print completes.
I think most of us would agree with you. But it seems that we, as customers expecting a product to do what we purchased it for, are in the wrong. Coming from the Steve Jobs school of “We’re smarter than our customers,” it appears we’re supposed to just accept whatever Bambu hands us. This request was first made during version 1.05 for the P1 series when they initially set the light to turn on by default. Not only did Bambu ignore user requests, but they doubled down with subsequent revisions—now the fckng light comes on even after you turn it off after you start a new print. I ended up cutting the wires I have a better lighting solution anyway. What really pisses me off is that they didn’t just ignore the request; they went out of their way to show who’s in charge. Now, tell me that isn’t the epitome of supreme corporate arrogance.

i agree this would be super nice. or even allow us to put In some g-code to do it after the print is done.
I got the P1S. The light stays on for days until I walk by and notice it. Then I have to manually turn it off. The lights on the AMS never turn off unless you unplug it as well. Seems like a no brainer to have a timer on it for when it is sitting there doing nothing.
Please add this feature. It can’t be that difficult to do. The software control already exists.
No, it’s not difficult and was present in the 2023/24 firmware. In case you did not read through this thread, that feature was in place and later taken away by Bambu. If history is any guide, they won’t listen to customer requests no matter how trivial the ask might be.

As a developer, I’d say that automatically turning off the light after printing is a trivial task.
It’s 2025. The community has been asking the manufacturer for this feature for years.
You know what this is called? Disrespect. They treat all of us like dirt.
I did it with homeassistant. Also got it to toggle when the door is opened or closed
How did you manage to do that? I’m not seeing that HomeAssistant knows about Bamboo Lab.
Its now April 2026 and still waiting Bambu!
I don’t see that option on my X1C. I thought I was on the latest firmware.
I do have that option on my H2C and I use it.
I might be remembering incorrectly.
Its not under the same setting, but the X1 power saving mode does pretty much the same thing.
Interesting, I looked again and noticed that I have “Auto-Sleep” set to “10 min” but I don’t recall it ever doing anything? The light never seems to turn off (unless I power down the printer).
I’m using X1C firmware 1.08.02, which does not have a power-saving mode. Auto-sleep only turns off the screen. I do not recall a mention of any other power-saving mode in newer firmwares.
After turning the power switch on, I usually turn off the light. When a print is sent, the light will remain off through bed heating, bed leveling calibration, flow calibration, etc. The light will turn on when the actual print starts, to record video. The light turns off when the print is complete.
