As a model creator, I want the additional function to offer model-downloads in exchange for a price in points I am able to define. The downloader must pay in points to download the model.
Points should be buyable via money [monetization for Bambulab]
This approach emphasizes the key elements and benefits for both parties involved:
Model creators: Gain a new revenue stream by selling their models directly to users.
Users: Access exclusive models with flexible point purchases instead of solely relying on real money transactions. Also they are not bothered to sign up another subscription (like patreon etc.)
Bambulab: Creates a monetization opportunity through point sales.
This is an interesting proposition, I don’t think people will migrate from printables, cults, thangs, etc. Because of this, but I do believe some would love to get paid with points.
Could be complcated to implement to prevent “points laundering”. Right now, MW has a review protocol whereby manual reviews can be required before redemption of the points. How will that work if anyone can set up a model to receive points may not be straight forward.
If they decide to introduce monetization on the platform, having people paying money for models maybe easier to implement because existing online payment methods/services can be utilized.
Mmh, IMHO, I don’t agree here. There are enough examples of Credits-Systems available.
Is it easy to realize? - No. There are definitely many details, especially if there is a way back from points to fiat-cash. (What I would initially avoid as MW product owner). Then you would also have to take care of money laundering laws etc.
I tend to agree with @DWdesigns sadly, there are dishonest people out there and it really doesn’t take much to game the system that already exists. The bot army brigade would often strike up fast and bulk point share to the hive, suddenly disappear. The last mob I saw here had a few runs with dozens of “makers” who’d offer a “ralph” or some other random name up for 15min and get 30 downloads before deleting the model. They’d rotate names and “makers”, they were level 9 before and moving forward before they shut down. I’m betting some still exist and they’d have no issue finding a way.
I really like your idea, don’t get me wrong. The main problem is, in my opinion, MW has to get the current system working efficiently before adding more loopholes or rules. As it is, they are probably looking at how to pull back the current GiftCard bonanza anyhow as it was only built to pull a crowd.
This is a REALLY great idea!! It brings incentives to creators all while Bambu Labs can generate some passive money. Points would definitely need to be restructured so everyone would gain them in some way, like simply binding a printer or sharing a timelapse maybe.
There’s lots of way to get more people involved and rewarded but it’s at the point of what and when Bambu Labs makes it happen…
not alot of people want to buy some of these models and its great that they are free, and your not even losing on this you still get rewards from downloads i dont think this change is a good ideo imo
Great idea, to fix lot of issues with spammers, is have two point systems. Current point system would convert 1 to 1 but… would allow bambu to vet each. once they are in other points, no need to vet. as would only be bought points with cash. or pre-vetted from free points or points received from model sales.
this is lot easier to implement. just a extra item on rewards to exchange. and no need to check for loopholes.
