Hello everyone. I’ve just surpassed 1000 downloads on my designs, profiles and such, but now the amount is condensed to 1k, and I would like to keep tabs on the individual downloads, I’d love it if on mouse hover over the amount, the detailed total could show. Or even better if we could get analytics with all the relevant information of our stuff.
Yes, @royeiror, I cannot agree more. There is a real need for more information.
With the ‘1K’ style of representing numbers, you will see that it rounds upwards as well. For instance, as soon as you get to 1050 downloads, it will say 1.1K. This is not correct - but all of their numbers show with this.
Being a control freak, I also wanted more numbers. I wrote a program which reads the models page every hour and extracts all information that I want from the embedded JSON into a small local database. In that way, I can tell things like the following
- Trending models
- Time / DOW trends
- What models are being liked and collected (and conversely, where likes and collects are removed).
- Trends for each model over time
…and more
For example,
| Name | Downloads | Likes | Collects | Total Downloads |
+-----------------------------------------------------+-----------+-------+----------+-----------------+
| American Style Trash Can | 19 | 0 | 7 | 54 |
| Fidget Toy: The Fidgety Python | 14 | 1 | 1 | 345 |
| Swing lid for trash can - fits on A1 Mini | 12 | 2 | 2 | 321 |
| Decorative office trash can: Wavy | 11 | 0 | -1 | 353 |
...
I understand that most people will not be able to do this, so it would be nice if MakerWorld could provide similar information in the future.
Model/Print Profile’s Data Analytics board is in our schedule, which may be online next month if everything goes well.
Sweet, hope everything works out well. The more time I spend in MakerWorld, the more I like it. Thanks for making it feel more and more like a community.
Oh no! I’ll be spending even more time on Makerworld looking at numbers instead of actually designing!
That’s actually a bad thing, I love your stuff. I hope It doesn’t impact your designing much.
LOL. There is no need to pore over these numbers daily or even weekly
But I can see it’s value in some special situations. I have a particular model (a Xmas Diplay) that I want to know how it performs in order to guide future design directions. Peculiarly, the number of downloads that it has is the 22 in the first few hours when it was published last Saturday. It hasn’t gotten any more downloads since. This is highly unusual. I would have wanted to know if it’s because no one has seen it since, or people still see it but just don’t want it (which will be valuable insight to guide future designs)
Haha thanks! Maybe I’ll spend less time looking at numbers if I know I can just look at the analytics later instead of trying to analyse in my head on-the-fly looking forward to the update!
