Feature Request: Highlight original print profil

At the moment there are a lot of print-profile-farmers on Makerworld - people who do not design own models but create mediocre print profiles with special character names (“clickbait”), just to get some points. As a creator I cannot guarantee that these profiles are good at all, but users will complain to me in the comments if the profile is trash. If a print fails usually most people blame the model and not the print profile…

It would be nice if the original and tested print profile created by the modell owner is highlighted. It should be clearly visible that this is the original, tested and working print profile. So all can see what profile will not only work but produce the result that is wanted by the original model creator.

What do you think?

I believe Bambu should not allow the uploading of Print Profiles until they confirm the successful completion of a print. This would help prevent a significant amount of spam. Users could submit a print profile, but Bambu would only display it once it confirms a successful print. This measure would greatly reduce spam profiles.

Just the other day, someone gave a negative rating to a profile I created, claiming it caused poor first layers. However, when they sliced it on their computer, the print came out perfectly. Later that day, I noticed that they had also created a profile for the same model. Now, my 5-star rating has dropped to 3.5, and their print profile is the only other one on the page, suggesting it’s better and optimized. In such a situation, most people would likely choose the newer profile with no rating, as a 3.5 rating is a cause for concern.

Edit: For the record my “bad profile” I only increased the number of walls and was using the Arachne wall generation it has nothing to do with first layer adhesion. :man_facepalming:t4:

I totally agree. The print-profile farming is kind of heavy using here. Sometimes there are so many print profiles. Phew… here probably the creator needs more control. Maybe also kind of preferred profiles.

And with version control. If I update the model, and the print profile is from an older version, this must be clearly marked as deprecated.

i’ve been on both sides of this - i like where your idea takes this.

there are a number of models here without ANY profiles, by the model author or anyone else. i sometimes search for those, create a profile, print, then upload with photos. i’m hopeful that this is a value-add and not a farming activity. i would want these to be clearly “community provided” despite being the only profile associated with a model, but right now that’s only apparent to someone who takes the time to look at the avatar/username and see the difference.

perhaps there should be a single slot for “model author’s print profile”; this could be distinct from “community uploaded print profiles” in some other slot in the UI?

in this case if we share a model from another platform (i.e. one that’s not our own but for which the licensing allows reposting) then we are basically uploading a reference to the original model and a “community provided profile”. if we share a print profile for a model without any from the author, and the author later submits their own profile, the distinctions remain clear.

would be good to know that the backend does something to ensure the settings are actually different between different profiles? though that could be easily gamed (just make some useless changes like raft layers when not printing with rafts) and might break legitimate contributions (e.g. sometimes the layout on the build plate is all i change, but it improves results by aligning the base layer line directions with something or separates parts so they cool better).

Phew… here probably the creator needs more control. Maybe also kind of preferred profiles.

I like this. though i suspect the ratings system is meant to create this sort of output already. profiles that stink should get bad ratings and therefore fall off the radar eventually?

And with version control. If I update the model, and the print profile is from an older version, this must be clearly marked as deprecated.
ooo this is an interesting point. but this too could be gamed. want all the points? just update your model (maybe don’t change anything but the timestamp) and share a fresh profile…

Hello  you forgot the :gem::gem::gem::gem:

looks like this feature request has been fulfilled!
just grabbing the first model on my makerworld feed:

This is fantastic! Thank you, Bambu Lab!

It’s funny you mentioned the :gem::gem::gem: because in this latest MW update it appears Bambu turned off emoji’s for the titles. So we should see less and less of them, the exception is the ones that are currently out there appear to not be affected until they make a change to the title then the system auto deletes the emoji.

Yes I’m currently working through my profiles to remove them as I add photos to them, I’m sorry if they were obnoxious
