Feature request: K value input/selection

I always calibrate my filaments K value and save it to the AMS. I am often turned off from using the handy app to print because I cannot select this calibrated k value in the ams menu of the handy app.

You can change the filament type and color, but cannot select any of the saved k values. If your printer is already on and you have been to your computer to select these values, then it will use them. But if you turn your printer on remotely and then want to go start a print, you have no way of making sure the printer is going to use your saved k value.

I would find myself using the handy app to print a lot more if I could select this important filament parameter.

Until this works as planned there is a workaround you could try.

If you have a computer or laptop and won’t mind abusing it a bit:
You can use programs like Teamviewer to get remote access to your devices - even from a mobile.
Like that you can control the printer through Studio on the laptop at home, no matter where in the world you might be.
Far from ideal, I KNOW, but it works…

AFAIK the k-factor is saved to the printer/AMS.
Shouldn’t that mean that handy just uses the value set for the filament in question?
Have to double check when I fire the machine but I am quite sure that when I syncronise the AMS and set my filaments the right k-factors for them is selected as well.
I fail to see why handy would misbehave here, unless it is a bug…

Definitely not ideal, but good suggestion!

The K factor is saved but there’s no way to verify that it’s actually using your saved value. I know every time I turn my printer off or shut down studio on the computer, the K values are erased and I have to re select them the next go around before I print again.

Why not test it to be sure ?
If the factor is ok then sharp corners and the start/end points of a wall line should come out fine.
Do a print from Studio, turn all off and on again to repeat from handy.
If both test prints are of same quality you know the k-factor is applied correctly.

I like this idea. I’m going to do this as soon as the printer is freed up.
