I 100% agree with the original poster’s suggestion that there be a filter added to the site so you don’t have to scroll through items you aren’t interested in.
A limited workaround I’ve found is some “artists” make use of the tags with their own name, I simply put this in your Preferences menu > Blocked Tags and they don’t show up. I don’t see makerworld rushing to come up with a real block setting unfortunately.
I sometimes generate some models with AI to test the AI and the progress, but I generate 3D models. Even generating decent 3D models with AI is not easy and anyway there is always a bit of “AI post production” to improve the model. I would not mix flat models or images with real 3D models
I like hueforges. Printed a lot, made a few of them.
The ones I made, are definitely not low-effort (to make or even print), and the reward coming from them is very marginal because some of them requires up to 7 very specific filaments. I would be totally ok taking off any download reward related to those anyway.
I agree there are a lot of low quality stuff though. And it’s very annoying when you are looking for something and all you get are 2d lithopanes or hueforges, especially because sometime it’s not even clear from the thumbnail.
Also hate when they put the image they processed as a thumbnail, and not a photo of the printed model.
I agree excluding them from a search should be very possible… let me just exclude categories. I believe it should be enough, because if I still get any of them with the filter, I’ll just report it, and the model will most likely be taken down, with points revoked.
About AI well, that’s a problem concering everything on makerworld (and probably any creative platform, Spotify is also turning into s**t because of that). At least doing copyright protected pictures should be harder, and that’s mostly what litho/hueforges are used for.
