I’ve just uploaded a first design to Makerworld & also filled in as much as I can on my user profile.
I have four 3D printers - but I can only add the Bambu X1C, as the other are not in the pulldown and do not save.
@makerworld - Please add an option for “other” printers that are not from big-name manufacturers.
eg. I have a Kossel XL+ (Popular design by David Crocker [dc42] at Duet3D), an Overlord Pro - a classic machine from ten years ago, and a custom home-built large toolchanging CoreXY machine.
3D printing as a hobby is as much about building and modifying or customising machines, as actually printing items!
I’m actually not sure where the printer list is used. It doesn’t appear on peoples’ profiles, nor on their reviews. I think it might just be for filtering down the print profile list on models. Since there aren’t print profiles for 3rd part printers, it doesn’t matter.
There are something like a hundred other makes, some with many models listed. Some are big name makers but there are quite a few I’ve never heard of.
Don’t the print profiles only apply to Bambu Labs models? (Not sure as I’ve only posted one new design on here so far, all my older stuff is on Thingiverse).
I found there is an “Other” item right at the end of the list, but it does not allow the actual type to be added to the “Other” entry.
Adding an ‘other’ option for printers would be awesome for people with custom or lesser-known machines. 3D printing is so much more than just using stock setups!
You can upload print profiles for non Bambu printers, and it’ll list them. I’ve seen it a few times. If Bambu Studio supports a particular printer, it’ll do it.
