Feature Request: Preview Mode

It will be great to have a preview mode of the model upload page.
The editor results to tini sometimes.

Thanks

Hey there! I think this is a fantastic idea. Just a quick tip—there’s an option to publish a model privately first to preview how it looks before making it public. That said, I don’t typically use that feature because I’m not sure how it handles the published date, and I prefer the date to reflect when the model actually goes live.

As I mentioned the other day, one quick improvement could be to increase the size of the preview images and GIFs on the model upload page. I think that would make a big difference!

I’ve been following @ozarkexpeditions’ suggestion by creating a private model and using it to test new .3mf files I want to preview. You only need to create one private model and keep reusing it for testing. Once you’re satisfied with everything, you can create a new upload and copy over the details.

I have a question about images and GIFs: what’s the best ratio to use for uploading to ensure they display well on both desktop and mobile? I’ve been resizing mine to 640x480 or 480x640 but I’m still getting side borders on desktop. Any advice?

That’s a great suggestion about the one private model for testing, I haven’t thought about that as an option.

I use a 4:3 ratio on all of my images. The resolutions you’ve mentioned are quite small and would recommend uploading high quality images but using the 4:3 ratio.

To clarify, those are the resolutions I use for GIFs since they can be quite large in file size. For regular images I completely agree with using the highest resolutions possible.
